just moved to vista and a cple of questions

1) you get the icons on the right side of the desktop, can you customise these what are they called and any good ones to look out for

2) I would like a free burning software, tried to use infrarecorder but couldnt work out how to add the mp3 plug in, thinking of nero 7 but infrarecorder was so much quicker

I assume you mean the sidebar and the gadgets. If so then you can add more by click the "+" sign at the top right corner of your desktop. To download and install more check out this link
