wth?

I mean, you were damn lucky to get your money back and then some, but why not stop when you got back to zero, back to not having lost anything? carrying on to 600 was just pushing your luck!

Good luck to you, I have a few friends who gamble a fair bit - online/on fruit machines etc - and I sometimes find myself wanting to tell them to stop wasting their money.. so fair play to you :)

Probably cause a win came in that took him over 0 and into the black?

I never gamble as i see it as a losing game but my dad, grandad and mates have had some nice big wins. My mate at college puts in waaaaaaay too much money into the fruit machines, he always wins though but he puts it back in! Same goes for my uncle!

A female friend of mine works for willy hills and has a few stories to tell that would be enough to put me off gambling if i was a gambling man.

I remember when we were in Vegas, we decided to walk down to Stratosphere. Stratosphere is a hotel at the north end of the strip, going towards the dodgy end of town. We got stopped about half a dozen times by people begging us to give them some money because they'd literally lost everything and couldn't afford to get home. Shocking.

I remember reading a thread on here about bonus bagging. Seemed really good and i fell into it.

I lost £50 in one night, on my first go, i felt sick and angry. I know its nothing like the amounts you played with, but still :o

I worked as a croupier for a couple of years, there was one chap who owned a door firm. Every fortnight he'd withdraw the wages from the bank to pay his door staff, but first he'd come into the casino and gamble with it, hoping to make a tidy profit on other people's money.

As you can guess, eventually it all went wrong. He started losing badly, and began chasing his losses. £4,000 later, he's a total wreck. He went out, sold his car (pug 306GTI -only 18months old at the time) for £3,600! Came back in...and lost all that.

Watching a big guy like that (he works the doors himself) in such a state of stress, was quite disturbing.

He came in the next day to apologise for his behaviour. Turns out after he left the casino, he went to his girlfriends house, took any cash he could find and her jewelry, pawned it, and with about £800 he went to another casino.
He was incredibly lucky, as he managed to win £9,000 on blackjack during the night.

Thing is though, although that incident at first looked like it cured him... 8months later he was back to gambling hundreds at a time.

which casino? I used to work at the grosvenor in chinatown, great job, shame about the money and hours.

Anybody who gambles that sort of money, needs help and fast.

That's rubbish, it's all relative. If you can comfortable afford it then why not?

OP: Your an absolute idiot. If you are gambling half of your monthly income you have a SERIOUS problem. Get it sorted now before it ruins you next month. You have gone beyond gambling for enjoyment and that is not good...

Gambling in a casino is a mugs game. Why would you gamble on something when you don't have the edge?

There is a reason why the saying "The house always wins" is true.

If yo uare going to gamble, find something to gamble with, when you are statiscally ahead (or have the "edge" as it's called).

i love gambling, its fun. but its all about self discipline, never gamble more than 10% of your bankroll at any 1 sitting and leave when your ahead.
if you cant leave when your winning then id suggest getting help.
i usually make a nice profit from online poker and any casino trips.

Hang on, so you actually were up £600?

Sounds to me like you're on a winning streak at the mo. You don't want to quit on a winning streak?

I think he meant he was down £500 then won £600. Effectively £100 up

A mate of mine at work does some football betting. Started out small at £10.00 a pop. He ended up winning a bit but the stakes went higher. He was covering his bets whilst he bet more and more. Thought he had a fool proof system as he was betting around £400-£500 on a weekend and getting back just over £800. For the past six weeks he has hit a wall and is seriously out of pocket.
