Hope it works out for you Gerard. I've found it difficult dealing with Caseking in the past, then again my German isn't great.

Not got a response back yet but they were closed around the time i got the card. Asked them about this before i got the card and this was their response.

we haven't received cards with that kind of "defect" yet - but if the
first GPU's with that defect will be returned to us,
we can try to send them to our distributors for exchange/credit note.
Unfortunately we can't give you any further information
about that case at this moment.

That was before amd made the public statement so should be plain sailing.

I dont have that issue with Mantle on my 290 4GB with 200% resolution scaling at 1080P and i even had 4xAA.

User error you think?

As requested, here is the Screen shots of TR with memory overclocking stock and core overclocking. 3 runs of each to nullify any discrepancies.

mem plus 50Mhz.

Stock mem and core

Stock mem - 1100Mhz core

GCN 1.2 parts (R9 285/Fury X) have not received any performance optimisation in Mantle titles.

If you take a look at the Thief benchmark thread you'll see my Quad Fury X's (GCN 1.2) are not much faster than my Quad 290X 4GB (GCN 1.1).

Well that is a very poor show indeed. I was really looking forward to seeing what Mantle could give against the Titan X in BF4 but instead, Mantle in BF4 is roughly 20 fps down on DX11 and roughly 50 fps down on Titan X DX11.

AMD abandoned Mantle, so all a lot of hot air over nothing really.

Yeah as big shame as it is, it's still best thing to focus their driver development where it really matters. DX12 (and Vulkan).

I think Beyond Earth actually works quite well with Fury?

At least it pushed MS to get their finger out of their ass ;)

At least we can be thankful for that!!! :D

Highly debatable. The essence of Dx12 has been pushed by nvidia. ATI, Intel, Microsoft, ahi and other since 2005. Similarly with volksn, which is just a new name for GLnext, which has been worked on for a long time before Mantle every existed.

Unfortunately, everything about AMD for the past 6+ months is screaming 'short on money/resources' :(

Yeah when they are making a big deal over some poorly implemented frame rate control you know they are scraping the barrel.

Don't get me started on the CCC, it's enough for me to jump back to Nvidia and adaptive sync and numerous other useful features AMD should have by now.

Yes but I'm sure they were a little more 'motivated' once they learned of Mantle's development (I know these things take years to develop)

I don't agree with that, people thinking of buying a fury x want the here and now performance not in 6 months time when windows 10 is out and new cards will be on the horizon anyway.

They need the performance for dx11 or what was the point in the card unless you game at 4k and even then the 980ti and fury x are the same price.

DP

AMD set out to make an API that would move PC gaming forward - They did that, Lets not forget this wasn't just AMD's doing and it was Devs at Dice that made the API come to life.

AMD set out to make an Open API they did that - Vulkan is now running Mantle, Mantle will continue to work under this new API..

AMD will have also learned a lot from working with low level API and I would expect this work will help build better DirectX 11/12 Drivers

I feel all the work with Mantle has been a success if am being perfectly honest. AMD will continue to work with DX12 and Mantle will continue to work under Vulkan.
Mantle for me give me an idea what us PC gamers can expect for future API..

But I guess you will always hate anything AMD try to do for the PC gaming industry.
