The Fury(X) Fiji Owners Thread

I will say though in my half hour or so with the furyx aside from the pump issue the card is totally silent. Can't even hear the fan on the rad even though i had the rad sitting next to me. Build quality is also great, feels very high end and solid, and i'm not one for caring much about how a card looks or feels.

The card also seems to cool down pretty quick, with the 295x2 it remains physically pretty warm to the touch for a while after gaming, this only seems to take a few minutes before its cooled down.

Build quality aside though the pump issue really takes away from that a lot, why go all out to make the card look great and then let QC slip on pumps and some rads that people have got with bent fins? Just seems they took their eye off the ball and concentrated on the card aesthetics while a few other things snuck by unnoticed.

Was meant to receive a sapphire card tomorrow but with this port BS in france its not gonna happen. Just hope when it arrives its also not put back on the next boat back to Germany.

In my head I'm reading that with you talking over the noise of something like a dehumidifier lol.

I must say that I am quite annoyed with Mantle. Shocking performance with it in BF4 and if I enable 200% resolution scaling at 1080P (effective UHD resolution), I get 5 fps and no higher (at least I now know what happens when the Fury X runs out of VRAM).

But Fiji doesn't support Mantle to begin with...

Fury does not support Mantle to begin with.

Just to note, I have a Sapphire card here, and the pump whine is insanely annoying.

Trying to get it replaced, but Sapphire customer care are pretty useless. I ordered from a place in Spain, and sadly their trying to get me to cover the costs of shipping it back, which is simply not going to happen. It's also against EU law.

I really wish AMD took a stance on these pump issues, and actually did something about it, rather than play it down as they did. The main issue with pump has always been unwanted noise, and they just had to release a product with a faulty pump.

This is all going from bad to worse!! Feel for you guys who have issues with the cards :(

This is really beginning to sour the launch, as it's usually dedicated AMD guys who are getting it in the neck!!

Amd did issue a statement yesterday.

We have received feedback that during open bench testing a small number of Fury X cards emit a sound from the high speed liquid cooling pump that, while not loud, is bothersome to some users. While the vast majority of initial Fury X owners report remarkably quiet operation, we take this feedback seriously, as AMD’s mission is to always deliver the best possible experience to our Radeon customers.

AMD Radeon R9 Fury X customers demand and deserve the best, so adjustments in the sound baffling adhesive compound were applied in the assembly of the high speed cooling pump to address the specific sound a few end users experienced as problematic. This improved the acoustic profile of the pump, and repeat testing shows the specific pitch/sound in question was largely reduced through adjustments to the sound-baffling adhesive compound in the pump.

AMD will work with its graphic card partners to ensure the satisfaction of the small number of initial customers who observed this specific sound and experienced it as bothersome. AMD is confident that on-going production of Radeon R9 Fury X product reduces the specific sound in question, but this is also a highly subjective matter with wide differences in PC case builds and room acoustics.

The AMD Radeon™ R9 Fury X radiator fan is near silent, and this makes any sound from the high-speed pump more noticeable to some end users, especially during open bench testing. Thus although the overall sound levels are remarkably low for an enthusiast product, AMD has worked to reduce the specific sound that some customers report as bothersome.

Didn't realise you shouldn't have to pay to ship it back, presumably its upto the retailer to arrange a pickup then?

The noise is a real PITA, the only thing i can equate it to is something like your ears ringing after a firework goes off close by or something along those lines.

Yeah, EU law for distance selling states, if their is an issue with the purchase, the seller must cover the costs of return shipping.

Basically, us, as the consumer, must not be out of pocket for a faulty item. Now if one was to simply return an item because they didn't want it, then they would have to pay the shipping fee's themselves.

No sure if I'm even allowed to name the place in Spain, but their customer support keeps jumping from one rep to another, and it makes it impossible to have a proper conversation regarding the issue.

I have had to open a Paypal claim over this, simply because the retailer are refusing to accept responsibility and Sapphire are ignoring all of the support tickets and emails.

To be honest, it has been so annoying, I may just go with a 980 ti. I''m really not looking forward to getting another card with the same issue and AMD did nothing to help the situation.

Sapphire are like asus, pretty useless. I remember asking them if they had any spare screws before as i had misplaced one and got told they don't keep spares 0_o

I've got the card in my system now, even with the door on its audible, like i said in my edit the nearest thing i can think of to compare it with is your ears ringing after standing too close to a firework.

Hope it works out for you Gerard. I've found it difficult dealing with Caseking in the past, then again my German isn't great.

I dont have that issue with Mantle on my 290 4GB with 200% resolution scaling at 1080P and i even had 4xAA.
