Just jumped on the blops bandwagon after being absent since Cod4 and am struggling a little, mainly being from being on pad. I;m trying to play a little patient, use sound and let people come to me, but not sure if this is a good way to play. Just being a little yolo seems to reap better rewards from the little I've played.

Tactics depend on which game mode, your skill, your reaction time, set up etc. but generally I would say play how you want to play. Hanging back and being cautious is useful and a good way to play when you are new to a game, especially when your opponents aren't new. As a general rule though I would say running around you will come across more players and so get more kills though you will also most probably die more. Hanging back will remove some of the risks so you wont die as much but then you will get less kills too.

Personally I tend to stick to TDM or domination. TDM I generally run away from my team and try to be on the otherside of the map to them. It is a high risk high reward tactic but the most fun way to play it IMO. Domination is a bit of the same but I am happy to sacrifice my k/d if it means getting an objective. Once you have an objective though it is all about holding it so then you can be more defensive.

I only ever bought the first DLC for BO2 and that included one of my fav maps of all time - Grind. Hydro and Downhill were also excellent. Stick raid in with those two and I'll be happy!

And as ever it gets to 10-10:30 pm and the game becomes a hit-marker insta-death mess.

This.

What an abomination. 0% packet loss, 16ms ping, and yet I can't kill anything. Even getting the jump on people, too often they simply turn around and kill me. I'm not the best player by a long shot and i accept that losing a fight fair & square happens but losing like this is just ridiculous. Someone appears on my screen and I'm dead before I can even react. Over and over again.

That right there will be the death of this game for me, the consistency is virtually non existent.

Exactly my problem with this game. I usually have around 30ms ping. Some games I can kill people fine and other games I've got no chance at all. I have no problem getting killed by people if my aim is totally off but when I'm dead before I can even react it's just annoying.

Like you say there's just no consistency. If this game is truly running on dedicated servers then my experience should be the same all the time but it's not. There's just something seriously wrong with the infrastructure of COD. I don't know if it's poor servers, rubbish MM or just poor netcode.

Does the host still get screwed on this? I've got a feeling that's my issue a lot of the time. 200meg connection is not good sometimes :p

How can you tell you're host? Is it first person in server still? That's the case for me most games.

Anyone see the latest drift0r in depth? Silencers make no difference to damage/range on sniper rifles....what a joke.

Apparently (not sure if it's still the case) but you dont get the connection details like ping and packet loss if you are host.

Other than that you need a Netduma R1 to tell you were the host/server is, a lot of the games I play have been connecting to dutch hosts/servers. The odd occasion I have connected to hosts/servers on the south cost.

I also agree the consistency in this game is very poor, sometimes you melt people and the other times you are dead before you even have chance to shoot, Thunder highlighted it in his latest video.

It isn't the connection though, it is the matchmaking that is the problem. Playing tdm last night I ended up in a game with (by their PSN language/emblems) an Estonian and an Italian on the other team who were untouchable. The rest of the team seemed to be in the UK and my connection to the host was good (30ms and 0%). I know there isn't as many people playing this as previous CoD's but seriously? 10pm and it couldn't find 11 other players all in the UK? CoD's matchmaking should automatically filter out players that far away/on such poor connections.

What do you think of the netduma? Been mulling it over for the past few weeks...!

Does the job, gets me into UK hosts with good pings every game. However, it can't help if the host then starts downloading half way through the game and I don't know if it's the Netduma affecting things but I get kicked a lot when migrating hosts, presumably as the migration is changing to a host that my ping acceptance does not adhere too.

It's nice to see what is taking up the bandwidth as I've been in laggy games before and realised my other Xbox one has been downloading updates whilst in energy mode, I wouldn't of ever known this on my normal router.

Xbox one? Sure, we're all friends here no need to be ashamed of your scheduled midget porn downloads ruining your CoD experience. :p
