My laptop conked a few months ago and I kept the 2.5" internal SATA HDD. I now need to connect this to my new computer via USB so I can get some files off. Is there a caddy thing on OcUK which someone can recommend?

Hello ic1male,

you may have already bought one of the suggested adapters above but just in case you haven't or for anyone else with a spare 2.5" SATA HDD which they either want to access data from or utilize then I would recommend a 2.5" USB3.0 caddy.

In addition to offering all the functions of the adapters mentioned in the posts above you also get the option of having a neat portable storage option. Even though I have scaled back my I.T technician duties I still find a cheap no name 2.5" USB3.0 caddy running a 500GB WD black SATA II drive very handy when fixing peoples laptops for both transferring user data to a safe place and also a destination directory for huge Acronis .tib files when backing up fresh installations of windows on said laptop. . .
