The PSU can also cause coil whine in components so it may not be the GFX card.
I used another graphics card and heard no coil whine. Everything else the same.

Also I tested with a Corsair HX850i and AX860i and coil whine was still present.A PSU may cause coil whine on one card but not another. Unless you know for a fact that both graphics cards use the exact same components, that's not a valid test.

Well good news, Gigabyte UK agreed to replace the entire heat sink including all fans in one go.
They couldn't reproduce the coil whine and display port handshake issues I had at their end but this could be related to other hardware, I can live with it anyway.
Fingers crossed it'll be fine when it arrives tomorrow.
