How the hell is this not 32?

This is exactly what I don't get. 53/-17 comes up as a completely different answer. I should probably not use Windows calculator tbh.

The minus sign and the negative number sign are different things and have different buttons on a calculator.

Using windows calculator:
  • Type in 53
  • Press divide
  • type in 17
  • press negative/positive
  • press equals

You need to use the +- button bottom left.

36 by any chance?
If you type it as it reads into calc then you type 53 / - 17.
Windows then thinks you have changed the / into - so it performs 53-17.

That basic arithmetic taught at 8-9 years old since forever. (at least in Greece).

Yeah, about that. I attended 4 different schools in South Africa by the time I was 15. During this time I moved cities and house 7 times. I couldn't make friends because I could never settle. My father left my mother and I when I was 2 and didn't support us with a penny. This resulted in me having to live on the breadline, at one point in a caravan in my uncle's back yard. My father completely deserted us and moved to Holland when I was 7. Before my 15th birthday I'd been shot at, hijacked, witness my mother fight off a rapist, and watched a neighbour get pulled out of the boot of his own car. He was missing for three weeks and the only reason anyone found him was because someone reported a foul smell. At 15 I moved with my mother to Holland because I wanted a father in my life. I moved to a country to a deadbeat alcoholic father who still wanted nothing to do with me. I went to schools where I spoke precisely zero words of their language and was bullied day in and day out (you got any idea how cruel 15yo kids can be to foreiners?). At 18 I was kicked out for losing my cool and putting one of them in hospital. By 21 I had suffered a close call with drug and alcohol abuse and fought it off.

I'm now 34, I earn over £50k a year, live in a £450k flat in the financial capital of the world and supervise a team of 8 engineers, all looking after a £650m building in the square mile for one of the biggest players in the world. I'm doing a degree in engineering, I'm married to a woman many men can only dream of and go on holidays that would put most to shame.

So, what have you achieved in life?

Whilst I know the answer is either not going to come or be something utterly crap, I'd lol if it turns out panos is some billionaire playboy.

But yeah...in Greece...

How's Greece doing these days anyways? They got 2 pennies to rub together yet?
