Some more "leaked" specs from the 1180.

Same, I've made the mistake twice now of getting the 980 and then 1080.

Why bother with the Ti variants? The non-Ti versions do not necessarily last shorter. I prefer the non-Ti variants for better power efficiency so it never gets too noisy with a reference cooler. The Ti versions are also slightly harder to sell as second hand (higher PSU requirement and higher failure rate).

Never had any difficulty selling any "Ti" variant and power efficiency is a moot point when we're getting quite a nice performance gain over a non "Ti" card.

I don't see that as a valid point, as with a non-Ti I also get quite nice performance gain over a Ti card, e.g. with 28% less heat, 980 was 11% faster than 780 Ti, 1080 was 37% faster than 980 Ti, and 1180 is expected to be 18% faster than 1080 Ti.

I lose days ? My Titan Xp isn't magically going to stop working when the 1180 comes out, It will do fine until the 1180 Ti arrives.

Your Titan Xp will magically depreciate for second-hand resales value as soon as the 1180 (non Ti) comes out. The fact that you haven't upgraded to Titan V suggests that you either need SLI or still cannot always afford the latest Titan upgrades.

During each upgrade cycle, there is no evidence that the Ti versions will stay on top for more days than non Ti versions.

For their given power don't 1080 and the Ti last about the same amount of time before being replaced? Well usually. As for Titan V I'm not surprised that not many have it, given it's huge cost.

I was actually surprised not see more people here grab a Titan V. As I recall when the Titan range came out a lot of people here purchased one or more and upgraded to the next Titan. Usually it sounded like yolo, no big deal it’s just money. But I think with the Titan V even these guys were pushed to the limit :)

Good news is Nvidia can look at the numbers which will hopefully show gamers are not ready for a new £3K range pricing. £1K is already pushing it for a gaming graphics card that will be worth less than half in a year or two.

I bought the Titan Xp Star Wars Edition only 4 months ago direct from Nvidia and the Titan V only offers an extra 30% performance for nearly 3 times the price of the Xp, Can I afford it ? Yep, But I don't need the extra performance in the games I play and I'm more than happy to wait for the eventual 1180 Ti next year that will exceed the Titan V for 1/3 its price, Plus I am not going to sell my Titan Xp, It will simply go into its Star Wars display case once the 1180 Ti arrives.

This is what I'm trying to say. Both the Ti and the non-Ti last about the same time (same degree of future-proof). There's little reason to stick to the Ti.

I meant it more as the 1080 and Ti last around the same length of time each, before being replaced. So people buying either card don't really lose either way.. At least that's the way i see it, it doesn't always go that way if they release the Ti much earlier than expected though.

But I mean the Ti versions are generally slightly more expensive at launch, and they dissipate more heat with more noise, hence does not justify well for people who only buy non-Titans and only upgrade once per architecture change.

If the Ti versions can last longer than the non-Ti versions then these Ti versions are more worthy of purchases.

You could argue support of the architecture last longer for the non ti cards. It’s also about what you need. A 1180 by the sounds of it will give me a massive boost from my 980ti especially in dx12 and Vulcan. Why wait for what I don’t need

Personally I just get the one I need to get at the time. Sure if 1180 and 1180ti launched on same day I would be on it however my gtx 980 needs upgrading. For me waiting for the ti is bridge too far but hopefully I have the patience for 1180. IF I had say a 1070 however the jump to an 1180 would likely not be enough for me and I would be looking at the ti

Not quite correct, the x80 versions are more expensive at launch. They have released 780, 980 and the 1080 at inflated prices compared to the performance over the x70 cards. They drop the price of the x80 card when they release the x80Ti.

So the cheapest upgrade option per cycle would be to buy the x80 card after the X80ti has launched.

"cannot afford" yeah, no. The Titan V price is obscene and offensive. I can afford one no problem, but it isn't financially sensible to buy one, especially given the quite limited performance increase.

Can you lay off the false dichotomy nonsense please?
