My first build budget £550 i3

Good shout.

Really need to test on another monitor with another cable if you can borrow one. Or a TV.

It's obviously sensible to test another screen, but the direction of the connection here is what makes the difference.

GPU --------> Monitor
HDMI --------> DVI-D

If it's like that then all it is doing is converting the physical connector, since HDMI is a digital signal only, and unless the monitor he has is a fake DVI port, and only allows DVI-I (odd if it does), then a new monitor is needed.

I think the difference could be some incompatibility with the HDMI on (some?) 1050/Ti/Pascals. Others have reported similar issues, even when HDMI-to-DVI-D has worked fine with laptops etc (different GPUs/iGPUs) and the same monitor.

His monitor has DVI-D and the Zotac 1050Ti has DVI-D, so he must only have a HDMI cable handy along with DVI-D adapter, otherwise he'd just connect DVI-D-to-DVI-D instead of HDMI-to-DVI-D. HDMI-to-HDMI on TV would answer the question. Or if no TV handy, then DVI-D cable.

UPDATE. took everything to a repair shop and stood with the expert as he took it apart and tested everything thoroughly,
turns out there were lots of bios configurations missing from the board and the ZOTAC 1050ti mini, just doesn't work with this board and has lots of incompatibility issues, my only fix was the guy updating different bios and settings with a separate cpu and motherboard, so know i have everything working all same parts as before expect the graphics card i have downgraded to a really low 710 just to get my dam computer on, can i make my 1050ti work ???? its a massive let down i built a gaming pc and my crappy 4 year old laptop runs better than my brand new ryzen gaming build......wtf

Did he tray the GPU in another board ? As if you have a GPU working in the X370, any should work ...

As from your video the GPU warning light on the board came up , normally it flashes all of them quickly and continues boot

So he changed the BIOS on your motherboard? Then tried the card again, but it still didn't work?

What do you mean by "lots of BIOS configurations missing"?

What does this mean "my only fix was the guy updating different bios and settings with a separate cpu and motherboard"?

Does that mean he took the GTX 1050, and put it in a different system to show it working?

Did he at any point show the GTX 1050 working in any system?

Got to be careful with these "experts" at repair shops, since some of them are as bad as dodgy car mechanics and will tell/show you anything to make some money.

basically the PC is up and running but with a gt 710 which is rubbish and I cant even play any decent games on it, I have a zotac 1050ti mini that just doesn't display anything, all I know is the guy was going back and forth downloading stuff to USB and then Q flashing stuff to the bios to get it to read, he said all parts were causing issues. like the bundle is just not compatible.
can someone at least recommend a card similar to the zotac 1050ti mini for me to try instead?
thanks

Do you live any where near the West Mids? If so I am happy to look at it for you before you waste more money on repair shops/parts. :)

Hey just to clarify I know am using a dvi to dvi cable and is making no difference

Thanks for checking that Scott.

It's a weird issue. Whether or not the BIOS needed flashing, probably the video card is faulty in some way? Now that you have the rest of the system working, I think you should return the Zotac 1050Ti for a refund (it's quicker than asking for replacement/repair). Chances are that one is faulty and purchasing (with the refund) another 1050Ti should work, but if you'd rather not chance that, try and get hold of a 1060 3GB.

Just an update guys I replaced the GPU and it all works fine now , so faulty GPU was issue from the start I believe ,
Thanks everyone for your advice and help :)
Now what games to play ? :)
