Hi

Left my Seagate 5TB Expansion USB drive doing a full format last night and when I checked it today HDTune is now showing a warning on the airflow temperature.

Now I know its been hot recently but surely a full format shouldn't cause that, the room it was in wasn't even all that hot plus its an external drive so no other heat source.

Anyway not a nice surprise but is this something to be concerned about?

The current temperature reading is while idling so maybe a bit high but then the room is currently 30c so not sure and from looking online it seems you read the values in reverse so 61 = 39c, meaning the hottest it got was 55c.

Tempted to take it out of the enclosure to keep it cool but I've had issues with Western Digital external drives not showing up when connected directly via SATA and as the drive is out of warranty I don't want to brick it.

Long story short - does that SMART warning matter?
