A certain on line major retailer in the USA has now reduced the price of the 1080TI to just over £500 but with import duty and postage it's the same price as they are here, however it does show prices are moving downwards.

100%. It happens literally every generation.

However, obviously with the silly inflated prices of the new generation, the firesale prices might not be quite as good as previous years.

Based on what Gibbo has said

This is said with no disrespect for Gibbo, but he is a salesman and understandably he will not tell anyone that there definitely will be cheap 1080ti's going soon, as that will hurt current sales of them.

If there is one cardinal rule that you should learn in life, it is to never listen to a salesman.

The FTW3 evga is only a bit more than that and comes with a 750w power supply
if you look for it
Bagged this deal in the end it arrived yesterday. I did need a psu though. If the 2080 looks good in a few months time will look to step up through evga. It will have to be quite a bit better as price difference will be 300 quid. The waiting finally got to me.

This this this!

People nowadays are far too gullible :o

Also, why do people think he has been doing "deals" recently before the 20xx were announced/arriving..... Hint, it is to get as many sales as possible at a higher price point whilst he/manufacturers still can demand that sort of pricing and get away with it.... Better to sell said card for £450 now instead of <£400 in a few weeks time.

First, let's consider that the 10-series cards remain on the market and, apparently, because of decreased demand from the crypto miners who were hoarding GPUs earlier this year, there's excess inventory. The prices of these older cards are dropping, but in order to sell them off, Nvidia and its partners need to make sure that there's a significant price delta between 10-series and 20-series.

"If there is a significant amount of series 10 cards floating around, they would want to at least draw that down somewhat," NPD Analyst Stephen Baker told us.

Second, video card companies know that people are willing to pay a premium price for RTX cards. If you look on Amazon, Newegg or Nvidia's own store, you'll see that many of the cards are already sold out. There's no lack of demand.

Third, these cards probably cost more to manufacture than their predecessors.

"These giant (and they are really big) chips cost a lot to make and test, and the huge amount of memory is expensive plus the cooling systems - just [cost of goods]," Analyst Jon Peddie told us. "There's no rip off here, no conspiracy."

Only because they did a cheap 780Ti (£259) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/nvidia-geforce-780ti-graphics-card-pre-order-25895-del-ocuk-2172926

and then the 8Pack 980 (£350) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/kf...-rainbow-six-siege-34999-overclockers-2299568

There was also a 980Ti for £300 https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/pn...8-oc-graphics-card-29999-overclockers-2509480

Based on that history hopefully there might be some chance of the 1080 (Ti) being reduced to a nice price in the near future !

Maybe when the 1080ti is actually end of line. Come back in a few months when the 2070 and 2060 are out.

When we will see a big change is when we see actual benchmarks and the 2070 arriving.

Right now there milking the rays preorders and even increased the price to encourage all those extra 1080/tis too be bought up !
