I have an external drive that wouldn't let me copy two video files of it onto another drive. I tried multiple computers and cables and concluded it was a damaged drive. I could open the files and watch them right through, I just couldn't copy them onto another drive as a backup.
Stupidly I ran First Aid via Disk utility and this failed causing the drive to not show up at all when plugged in. I used EaseUS Recovery and can see the files are all still in place, however when I try to recover the two files that wouldn't copy in the first place, the process fails.
Its not a great solution, however, if I am able to watch the files I can simply record them to an external recorder again, the problem is I need the drive to show up on my computer to allow me to do this.
Am I right in thinking if I recover the partition using some software that the files will appear?
