1080ti or RTX2080

I have the option of buying a 1080ti or for not a lot more an RTX2080. I know the RTX2080 is the latest, but which is best for VR and gaming at 1080p? I want somthing to go in my 2nd rig that is my HTPC, that is running the following in a Silverstone SST-GD10B :

i7 6700k
MSI Z170A Gaming Motherboard
32Gb Vengence memory
3x 500gb Intel SSD drives
1x 1Tb Intel SSD drive
950 Pro 512GB M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe SSD

2080 is about 10% faster. I wouldn’t even consider a 1080ti over a 2080 at this late stage in its game.

Imo if you can get a 1080ti second hand for a good price, go for that.

If you buy RTX2080 you have to make sure you buy a card with TU104-400A-A1 not TU104-400-A1. They clock better, and yes they are more expensive.

I'd personally go for a 1080ti, if cheap enough, otherwise, go for a 2080 but you might have a time bomb in your case

Isn’t it the Ti’s that are mostly having issues.

OP, as said I would get the 2080 unless you can grab a cheap 1080Ti.

All the problems with failing cards from nvidia that I've read about are all 20 series, appears to be related to Hynix ram used in some of them.

Using what has been posted on OCUK it appears to be the Ti’s mostly. One 2080 as opposed to numerous Ti’s
