Looking forward to a bit of RT action on BF5 and Metro.

This is still a stopgap though. I have more money put aside for the 3080Ti next year. Will be nice to get a card that can do over 70-80fps at 1440p with RT.

I haven't tried RT yet given the 2060 would've run like a dog and the games I've been playing recently don't seem to support it. Might jump on BF5 though just to check it out, not for the gameplay mind :p

OK, time to join in the fun.

Just realised I covered the model  It's the Super Gaming OC, like Mcbain's.

I have recently built a new system and am having some teething problems with the Gigabyte 2070 Super Windforce OC. Initially it was fine but then started revving the fans at idle/low gpu loads. The fans were revving up and down over a 2-3 second cycle really loudly for a couple of days. This error has seemingly cleared up for no apparent reason except for very rare occasions.

Then yesterday the gpu was failing to boost at all beyond 1605mhz base clock as per GPUz even in benchmarks like Heaven(Ultra settings)/Timespy. I was getting really poor benchmark scores in Heaven etc as a result. This error also seems to have disappeared as of today.
The card is still exchangeable till next Thursday. Are these intermittent faults likely to lead to bigger issues and should I just return/exchange the card?

I am not entirely sure my benchmark results are on par for my system either. They are significantly lower than when I first benchmarked it last week. Current results are:
Userbenchmark Graphics Score 113%
Heaven (ultra settings at 1440p) Score 2272 (FPS 90.2)
Timespy 10022
Firestrike 21485
Superposition 12331(1440p) 6226 (1080p extreme)

My system spec is
Ryzen 7 3700x
Dark Rock 4 CPU cooler
Gigabyte Aorous Elite X570
16gb Crucial Ballistix Sport @ 3200
Gigabyte 2070 Super Windforce OC 8GB
Adata 1TB NVME SSD + 1TB Samsung 860 Evo Sata SSD
Corsair RM750W PSU
NZXT H500 case

I just got the same card which seems absolutely fine in terms of fans, they shouldn't come on at all until the card reaches approx 56C temperature using the default setting, you can verify it all using the Auorus Engine Software or even set your own custom fan setting. Mine in idle are totally stopped and silent under 40c, and only ramp up when gaming above 56C.

I use that and NZXT CAM to cross reference temperatures and fan speeds and they shouldn't come on at all until that temperature. So possibly the fan spikes were your system temps rising and causing the card fans to kick in before dropping off again quickly. Those Ryzen chips can have heat spike at idle right? Though not likely to effect card temps too, though possibly could be that.

If you're not using Apurus Engine you should check it out to check temps and fan speeds, if the fans were coming under 56c card temp on the default setting then your card might be faulty.

Thanks for reply. The fan revving has not been such an issue the last few days and the card is now boosting again. I made no intervention at all so not sure exactly what is going on. I have made a return request as am not confident with the erratic performance issues. Are my benchmark scores similar to yours?
