RTX 2070 Super a good choice?

I'm looking at upgrading my GTX 970 to something more up to date. My monitor is 24 inch with 1920x1200 resolution, which I'm happy to stick with for gaming. I will be looking to add a second 24 inch with the same resolution at some point, or maybe even getting a 27 inch 1440p to pair with my current one, so a bit of future proofing is required, just in case.

I have also been looking at the 2060/2060 Super and 2070 cards, but after having a quick look at benchmarks, the 2070 Super seems the best card and it'll allow me to get a 27 inch 1440p screen too at some point. I'm not really bothered about having game settings on ultra etc etc, but high would be nice at 1440p.

It will be paired with an i5 6600k, I guess this wouldn't cause any issues? and I'd like to have the card able to play games at a reasonable frame rate/quality for the next 3-4 years (kind of like the 1080's are doing now).

The 2070 Super is more than I'd usually want to spend, but hopefully being able to get £100 for my 970 and the Modern Warfare code makes it around £380. I also want to stick with nVidia! Finally, are there any recommended 2070 Super's, I.e. Which is considered good for low noise/good cooling?

Any help is appreciate, as I am out of the loop! Thank you.

Yup, a solid choice and should last you just as long as the 970 at that resolution/1440p :)

If you can get any more than £50/60 for the 970 you'll have done well!

The 2070S sounds like a good plan. If it was me I'd go for the cheapest Gigabyte one for the slightly longer warranty compared to the very cheapest ones and UK warranty support.

Overclock the 6600K as much as you can, especially at that resolution. Should be a very handsome boost over your current card. :)

Defo worth it, upgraded from 980ti sli and the boost in performance using a single card is spot on. A nifty 30-50 fps boost at 1080p 144hz. I got the MSI gaming x and it overclocks really well too.

As above, 2070 Supers a good choice, be a massive upgrade over the 970.

Ive got the MSI Gaming X-Trio, which is very cool and quiet, as well as a great performer, as fast as the 2080.

For me the 2070 Super is NVIDIA's best value/performance card in their stack, it offers 1080Ti performance levels and they can be had for under £500 and there are a lot of really nice models available too like KFA2 1-Click Duals, MSI Ventus/Gaming, Asus Strix, Gigabyte Gaming, Zotac, lots of choice.

Overclock the 2070 Super and it will beat a 1080Ti quite comfortably and offers pretty much 2080 performance.

Even though the 2070 Super is Nvidia's "best value/performance card", it makes the 1080Ti's release price a bargain considering its value has dropped so little after 3 years. Yet I thought the 1080Ti price at launch was outrageous.

Still, as long as fans are happy.

I'm not a 'fan' but I've tied myself to nVidia via Gsync so I have little choice. I'm not in a position to upgrade/change my monitor atm either. My 980Ti lasted me 4 years and the reason I bought the 2070S is because it'd last me the same again. Given we're getting yearly releases of new cards, it's not like I'll be short of choices if I need another upgrade.
