How long do you hold a grudge against online / offline retailers?

Reading some of the replies it seems I've been lucky.

Never had a problem with any place. Though I never shopped in Curry's. I never liked those places anyways because they always seemed to over charge for items.

I got all my tv's from Amazon. The last one that arrived with a cracked screen they refunded it swiftly. I ended up going to another retailer for an LG tv and its been all good since.

I will never do business with them again. They cancelled my line because apparently I wanted to go with Sky (first I heard about it). Took me a month to get my internet sorted again. They even had the nerve to send me a bill afterwards.

Ebay.

Sent over a grands worth of stuff abroad. Customer disputes the order upon receipt and complains to Ebay. Explained to Ebay that we will collect them but the customer won't respond. Ebay was just like whatever and refunded the customer anyway.

I used to buy from MyProtein for years, until one day my order never arrived and I had to unfortunately deal with their utterly atrocious customer service which largely consisted of automatic replies and prerecorded messages on the phone that never got me anywhere. It took over a month to get my money back. Never again.
Strange they were good with me on two separate occasions with damaged items in transit.

If I have issues and they’re not resolved I generally will not use that company again.

One reason is they might be cheaper than competitors, so you feel it is worth the risk of being messed about. If I've had a bad experience with a large retailer it wouldn't stop my going there again if they were significantly cheaper than everyone else. Smaller retailers, I might be more cautious.

To answer the question I generally don't hold grudges against retailers, it's more likely to be service providers (like ISPs), restaurants or manufacturers.

It takes a lot to get on my wrong side, I'm fairly easy going, live and let live and all that.
So anyone who goes the extra mile and actually manages it, I'm out. Never ever going back. There's enough good in the world, I don't need to pander to the unacceptable.

I won't use a company if they state they use Yodel or Hermes, I'd rather take my chances elsewhere.
For most others, they get one chance if I have a complaint. After 3 days, they have had long enough and I then request a refund.
So far, not had any issues other than box.co.uk who state they use DPD and Royal Mail but used Hermes. Failed to deliver twice and then they sent the item back so I requested a refund.

Ive fallen out with lots over the years. Some I still dont use to this day (Three accused me of being a thief after they (mistakenly) delivered my new mobile to Ivan in Newcastle (which is 40 miles from where I live) because I had supposedly requested that they deliver it to Ivan rather than my home address.)

others I have had spats with and then perhaps not used them for a few years.

I get your point though!

Personally I avoid anything Samsung (ignoring the phone and dishwasher horror stories), my personal tally of tat:
* TV - buzzes, design fault
* Laser printer - drivers unavailable and doesn't work open source..
Cost them a fridge at least.

I would never buy another product from legal & general or AO.com again due to the way I was treated.

Victoria plumbing, not because of the service, simply because their products are cheap and fall to bits after six months.

Lincoln Honda is another one, they literally stole my car exhaust!

I don't mind people making mistakes, it's how they handle them which is important.

It's funny reading this thread because while I'm firmly in the camp that will never, ever do business with BT again, my partner has nothing but good things to say about AO.

Things do sometimes go wrong with all companies and it's their ability to put things right which earns my loyalty.

Never had any issues with Currys personally. . .

Once my contracts are up, im leaving Virgin media (absolute garbage) it says it all when my ISP for the last 10years was sky and it has been absolutely impeccable. i only moved because they maxed out at 75mb

o2, they can **** right off, since leaving EE i have constant buffer face waiting for things to load and is horrendous in general even when it shows 4G+ porn is also blocked automatically and you have to phone up o2 with credit card details in order to unblock. Sodd that! now my masturbation in work is done purely on imagination..

any Chinese chippy... they can **** off until the economy recovers and my colleagues are brought back to work, im tired and over worked and haven't had a day off since October.. (i joke about this one obviously)

Good companies

VW Main dealer Stockport in particular, great customer service.
Sky never had an issue and are always helpful when needed, which is quite rare.

That's probably the only one I've ever had a grudge with. BT is horrid. It's true though. Even a lot of ISPs hate them because they have to rely on them. I've despised BT to this day starting from 2007.

My view of them is unlikely to ever change.

I hold some long term grudges for poor customer services. Sometimes you just have no choice to use them though but i hate having to. Currys is for sure on the list as properly useless trying to buy a replacement washing machine and had in mind a model I wanted the silly little girl from sales telling me it was a poor choice and shoehorning me to a cheaper brand they obviously get paid to sell did me right in told her im done just walked out and never been back since. Homebase are on my list as are BnQ. TSB for banking and wont ever touch o2 ever again. Bought contract and 2 weeks later they removed the mast near my work and did not let me out of contract as it wasnt where i lived.

The problem is that these companies chase the largest group of people and that is price councious people. So everything is priced into the ground, and they deal with some fallout as enough people will keep going with them because they are cheap.

Even though it hadn’t left the warehouse they refused to match the price drop. I replied asking for the order to be cancelled and they ignored my email for 2 days and then replied with to late to cancel now, it’s left our warehouse. If you want to return there is a re-stocking fee and you will need to pay shipping.

That was the last time I bought anything from them.

Even after it had been delivered you could have returned it (unopened) using the The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The most it would have cost you would have been return postage as a restocking fee would have been illegal.

It depends.

When Economy Energy were messing me about for over a year with massively inflated bills and then refused or couldn't make the corrections stipulated by the Ombudsman I went a bit mad on social media making sure people knew what they were up to and to go to the ombudsman.

Shortly after they shut down social media, shortly after they folded. I'm sure it wasn't me alone, but annoy enough people enough by being incompetent and these days it can be deadly very quickly.

I’ll tell you two companies who have always given me first class service

Sky and Vodafone

I hate Vodafone with a passion. Myself, my partner and her mum all tried to leave and had an absolutely terrible experience.

Literally personal insults written in webchats about how stupid people were for moving to GiffGaff.
