Trust me, I know, been gaming on a 4K monitor since 2013, and everytime a new GPU comes out, it's the same old with people moaning about not enough VRAM without facts.
Currently gaming on a 5600xt at 4K to tie me over as I sold my 2080 Ti, awaiting what to buy next. Even with it's limited 6GB VRAM and 192bit bus, I've not hit VRAM limits in SOTR, RDR2, COD War one, Hitman 2, BFV and so on
With these games maxed out with AA.
So why some people say 8GB is not enough for 4K gaming are wrong. Turn AA off, you will save a ton of VRAM, as it really is not needed at 4K and you will have better clarity too.
Also some games have settings that just break the game engine with no real image quality benefits, just bragging rights...
So is 8GB enough VRAM till the next gen GPU's come out? I say yes.
But if you don't plan to upgrade at each generation, then no, 8GB is not enough for future proofing if you plan to skip a generation or two, not without dropping some settings.
Time will tell.
