Hi, I have had this card for over a month now on a new pc system, no issues till 3 days ago. it seems now after running any game longer than 10 mins the temp of the card reaches over 90 deg C them the screen goes black, with a screen message saying no device.

I have to then turn the pc off at the wall and a few seconds later turn back on and it boots up as normal, but the adrenaline software UI wont load and says no drivers loaded, checking the device manager the display shows the card as not operational and error code 31, I remove the device and reinstall the drivers and the card works again.

Nothing on my pc has changed since I have had it and no problems till now, the card isnt over clocked and just on starndard settings. Can any one help?
Thanks

Has anything changed on your system since it all worked fine vs the last three days?
Are the fans on the GPU still working?
What speed are they reaching under load in % terms?
What are your full system specs?

Sounds like something else, 6700XT should be *fine* at 90c, you should see throttling before a hard crash from high temperature.

Power supply?

no nothing has changed except for windows update, I know windows update KB5001330 has been causing fps issues and just removed it, adrenalin is up to date. Nothing on the PC has changed, no need to change anything if its working as it should and never overclocked it, only changes I make are in game settings only.

its a ryzen 7 5800x
asus rog strix x570-f gaming motherboard
Sapphire pulse rx 6700 xt
full iCUE water cooling system
32gb rgb vengance ram
1tb M2 boot
4tb mt storage drive
top of the range 850 watt PSU

Are the fans actually working??

90C seems like too much for a modern gpu. Most are configured to maintain around 75C-80C so if it goes higher then fans should ramp up to 100% very quick. Make sure you haven't got MSI AB set to manual fans which prevents them from ramping up.

I have amd Radeon adrenaline performance is set to automatic and auto tuning is set to default, yes all fans are working and spinning up when temp rises

Try undervolting it (found 1100mV to be stable), and run it again. Shouldn't run as hot if it's using less juice. If all else fails, like the others have said, send it back - just know that it may be a while before you get a replacement, though.

tried undervolting, lasted an extra 5 mins before shutting down :(

I think there is a problem with the software running the fans. When its getting hot although the fans are running they are not spooling up fast enough, ive just manually set the fans and done a stress test temp came back to normal operating temp. I also dont know if there is a max cut off temp for the card, im guessing if it is set its set to shut off at 90 to 95C

card is brand new and under warranty, I would sooner get a new one, but its the hasstle of doing that lol, im guessing there is a problem with the software.

Check your pc for viruses and trojans, you may have a miner running on your pc and causing issues too. So check what is running and if you have been downloading doggy games or software then the risk is high of a miner on your pc.

90c is far too high for a modern GPU, unless of course its a Gigabyte Auros Xtreme card - then its perfectly normal

Manually set the fans to 100% and run a few games, if it's still overheating then you probably need to RMA.

Try deleting the the adrenalin software and reinstalling.

Thanks for the info and help, I think I got it fixed, after messing with the undervolt I reset that back to normal, then had a look at the fan sliders rpm vs heat. I done a manual setting for each and did a slow variation on each except the last one, I boosted that to come on at 80 d C and at 100%, on the game I was having most of the problems the temp shot straight up to 80 and fans cut in, didnt get much over 85 deg. I then went back to the VR game I was on when posting this, managed to nearly clock 2 hrs game play with no issues, the fans didnt get up to full speed and was operating around the 75 deg C mark where it has been over the last month. I guess I could tweek the fan settings abit to keep them more quiet but still do the job.. However I did notice switching from automatic to manual that the Zero RPM was enabled, so im guessing that was over riding the fans from properly cutting in when they should
