Using tape really made the build quality seem cheap and wasn't a good look especially for their first proper gpu. It's been brought up a few times by GN since so presumably it was also in retail cards. Didn't seem to be a factor in third party card with their own coolers design though.

The reason I say is that they may have been a pre production run to get them out early for reviews.

That would have been mentioned if it was the case, they likely would have asked them to say this is preproduction, the tape won't be there on the final product.

Doesn't make a great deal of difference to functionality, but it does come off as being half assed and very cheap.

First Battlemage listings appeared on Amazon before being taken off

This one looks like an entry card to replace the A580. The A580 launched at $179. It is quite large for an entry level GPU

Main changes over the A580 from this info is 12GB vram vs 8gb and also the A580 had a 2ghz clock while the B580 is 2.8ghz

One could hope. I have my doubts with the current leadership but maybe they are able pull a rabit out of the hat.

That was one of the problems with the first one, they were asking £450 for the A770 when the RX 6600 XT was £350 and better, right now the A770 is £250, the same price as the RX 7600, unsurprisingly they aren't selling.

In the same way we all agree that AMD need to be cheaper than Nvidia Intel need to be cheaper than AMD. Or there's no point, we already have an an alternative to Nvidia for the very few who want that and Intel aren't it.

Don't know where its supposed to land in terms of performance but the RX 7700 XT is £350, its about 90% the performance on an RTX 4070, currently £470, the RX 7700 XT is a damned good GPU, its what Intel are up against in the mid range.

Its going to be tough for them.
