Are you going to buy the 2022 Apple TV with USB-C charging on the remote?

It’s very good but the lack of App updates on the system is dreadful. The iplayer app is so far behind the other versions and the navigation within most apps is dreadful too. However it does run very smoothly.

I gather from someone who works at the BBC it’s a nightmare platform to develop on.

Funny you speak of app updates, iTVX just updated theirs to add some features that were missing but introduced a load of bugs as well. :D Can't understand why the BBC one is so behind - I thought developing for Apple TV was as easy as iPhone and they have subtitles and things working there.

Having used all the main devices at this point, I have given up hoping to have the best of everything in one box at this point and as such the ATV is the best of a bad bunch. lol

Yeah, it's definitely the speed that wins it for me. It's so quick at loading the apps and getting into the video.

The only problem I have with ATV is the remote. For some reason mine stopped working and I tried to factory reset and everything. In the end I gave up and just use my iPhone as the remote now.

I don’t know the full story but the ATV iPlayer app is crap because the BBC want to stream using one codec whilst Apple state that another codec has to be used. Despite having a perfectly good app for iPhone and iPad which would require minimal converting to ATV, the Beeb threw their toys out of the pram. This was years ago and there’s been no movement since… Probably much more to the story than this but it’s the general gist

Tempted to get one of these. Recently got an LG C4 And am not a fan of the U.I in general.

But also don't want another remote to juggle
I was pleasantly surprised to discover my Samsung remote could be used to control the ATV. Think it’s a CEC thing so there’s a good chance (but I’m not promising!) that your own LG remote will work just fine. Worth researching.

My LG C8 remote works too, not tried with the C2 as hadn’t occurred to me but will tomorrow now!

Thanks I'll look into it.

I instantly turned CEC off as it kept switching the ps5 on randomly. But sussed that out in the end and turned the feature off at the console.

So hopefully would work out ok

Do you need an Ethernet cable? ATV can be used on WiFi. A standard cat5 cable will be fine.

HDMI cables are cheap. Just get a HDMI 2.1 compatible one ie pretty much any one you can get these days

My C3 is used exclusively with my Apple TV, I have no need for the LG remote other than to change settings. I’m so used to the atv remote now using anything other than that is alien.

I use an Apple TV exclusively with both my Sony TVs, much prefer the interface and speed of use.

I have an LG and the LG remote works fine. Only thing I'm not sure how to do using the LG remote is quiting apps but it doesn't bother me much.
