Show us your kitty cats

Accidentally put the electric blanket on max, walked in on this guy, maximising his surface area.

My turn to bring things down...... sorry. We have five - black brother and sisters, found abandoned in a box as kittens, that the wife (then girlfriend) and I got in 2013, a tabby brother and sister we got when we moved house in 2017 and a tortoiseshell girl we got around 2019. I'll post pics at some point.

The sister of the original pair, Jessie is literally and figuratively my shadow. She adores me- when she was small she used to sit on my shoulder, purr and give me constant headbumps. She's the bottom of the cat heirachy and always gets pushed out at treat time and gets the last choice of sleeping spot, but I always love an underdog (undercat?) so we've always had a bond. When we used to live in a quieter area she used to come out for walks round the block with me- the only cat I've ever had that does that!

Anyway, about three weeks ago she was off her food and pooing and peeing indoors, which was totally uncharacteristic, so we got her referred and after a barrage of tests, it's cancer. We don't know what form and probably won't, but one type gives her days, the other possibly months. I think it's the former as she's deteriorating, but she's on steroids which at least gives her a little time and I have to say has dramatically perked her up. Sometimes apart from being skinny you wouldn't know she's ill, at other times she seems very tired. We're giving her literally whatever she wants to eat- treats, cat milk, anything.... I mean it's not going to kill her is it! :p

Sooner or later, and I suspect sooner, we'll have to make a decision but for now she's getting all the love.

That link is just a nagging screen to install Instagram for me.

Even on my pc with web insta I've never seen a story, assume it requires following people, which isn't happening. People always talking about their stories and I can never see them.

We let Jessie go today. Last night she was really low energy and unhappy. This morning she was bright as a button, ate a lot, followed me outside to the garden for a little jaunt and posed for some photos in the sun, which was great as she hadn't been out for weeks. She made her traditional mess flicking water all over the kitchen (she's always done this since she was a kitten with the cleanest freshest water, but never bothered when she drinks from puddles outside :p). The vet was due to show up at 12:30, so of course she decided to disappear outside again an hour beforehand, which led to some consternation and calling for her with treats in the garden. Always a bit of drama but she she came back which is when I took the photo below. Felt so weird carrying her upstairs for the last time, but I'm so glad our last hours together were happy.

The vets were lovely with her, very gentle and like the little star she was, she was flirting with them. Was so terribly sad feeling her little body, all skin and bones, relax and gently sag and then she was gone.

I'm totally broken, but I know inside we stepped up and did absolutely the best thing for her.

Sorry to bring a bit of sorrow to a thread that's 99% joy, but also thanks for letting me offload, it really helps.

Getting prepared for a (hopefully) imminent move, so the cat pack himself.

Not really sure what to do with him on moving day.. thinking a cattery for a few days but he's 11, never been to one and not sure if that may add additional stress. But then we can't keep him in his carrier once we leave ours and then wait for completion/keys

its gizmo and elsa time again, they are 4 year old almost 5 any day now :)

they are still super affectionate and gizmo follows me going meow meow meow and if im lying down on my bed elsa comes up and snuggles up to me sometimes and if im sitting up gizmo jumps up on me :D

ignore the dirt up the side of the stairs only the camera pics that up, hasnt been painted in years and you can see the carpet is part scratching post for them, was a new carpet a few years ago and well cats gonna scratch :P

for some reason gizmo gets super fluffy in the summer and less in the winter........ wtf, cat logic????

RIP Marlie :(

We only got her around April time where we rescued her from a cat colony she'd been living in and estimates were she was around 5 months old. She'd always been pretty unsure on her feet and knew something wasn't quite right with her. In October we suspect she got poisoned from one of the farmers fields after they'd been spraying some chemicals (although we also found some remnants of a mouse including missing stomach which i think can be poisonous) as she stopped eating, got even more wobbly and generally got really cold. Took her to an emergency vet where she stays for ~5 days being liquid fed and fluids to flush out anything.

Got her home and she seemed to eat everything in sight and had a massive growth spurt. The vets suggested she had some neurological issues and was mostly blind, which we'd suspected with some basic moving of fingers in front of her face previously anyway. She seemed to get back to normal fairly quick and we just made an effort to leave lights on overnight to help her move around.

A few days ago she seemed to stop eating again, the rest of her nature seemed ok though and we thought not much of it except maybe a bug, but she seemed to keep losing weight. Things seemed to change pretty quickly yesterday evening though and she become unsteady on her feet again, and so we brought her into our bed and she died around 2am :(

One of the last pictures i have from last weekend, where she followed me down the road when i took the dog out and then got scared by a dog in a local house and so i put her on my shoulder as she always loved being high up. Amazing she was absolutely fine and how quickly she deteriorated.
