*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

You'll be able to pay a little to upgrade the game, like with the Switch 2 editions of the Zeldas, Kirby Forgotten Land and Mario Party.

Kirby and Mario Party got more content/modes too.
I went to my local store to try buy it and they don't stock it
They tried telling me it only available as a digital download.

So looks like i need to order it off amazon or very.co.uk so high chance i won't receive it now till after christmas

How does Factorio play on the Switch 2? Not sure if I should get it on console or PC.
It's getting a Switch 2 upgrade on the 22nd, adding mouse support, up to 4K resolution and other visual upgrades.

I imagine a game like that will take some getting used to on a controller, but there's a demo of the Switch 1 version you can try.

Ah, thank you. Will do. I missed the demo.

Like the Star Wars port it's cool to see a big game like FF7 running scaled down on a handheld but I'll always choose a more powerful platform to play these titles.

Yeah Star Wars, Cyberpunk and AC Shadows have all been good ports it seems, great for those who don't have other platforms to play them on or value the portable aspect.

I couldn't run Star Wars Outlaws on my aging PC because of how the game relies on RTGI, I can't really justify a new PC so it was nice to be able to play it on Switch 2 (and I loved it).

Kinda crazy really, fingers crossed Retro get to keep doing good work; they've obviously got some real talent in thier teams. I realise I'm playing via Switch 2, but MP1 remastered STILL looks pretty damn good, the clever use of baked lighting to simulate RT etc is WAY beyond what I'm used in most Switch games, and hell, better than many modern games; and a lot of the textures etc look very clean, despite targeting 1080p and nothing higher.

The ONLY very minor criticism I've got so far is a couple of VERY brief transitions looked like they were designed for 4:3 aspect, and now they're running 16:9, the aspect etc hasn't been fully corrected so a few split second shots looked 'extra wide'; but realistically I'm nitpicking, the game looks absolutely fantastic for a Switch 1 game, and it looks like they've done a bloody stellar job for a remaster; especially as its clear from the aforementioned, its not a full remake. Very much enjoying the fact I can enjoy it with proper 5.1 too, the fact I'm playing it on a 4K OLED means I can benefit from the colours and lighting even more as well, so scenes like the opening and the space station really look fantastic for the contrast etc, and sky/space skyboxes etc.

PPS Finished Astral Chain. Liked some of it, really disliked some of it. Felt like a game that didn't 100% know what it wanted to be, which is a shame as there were flashes of brilliance. Last boss was no slouch even on casual. A sequel which expanded on the good, and cut out the bad would be much appreciated. Japanese voice acting was MUCH better than the English lol Glad I played it though as it was a true Switch 1 exclusive that'd been sitting in my pile for a very long time.

Does any of you guys swap the A & B button mapping to be the same as other consoles ?

I did when I owned a switch and played zelda, as the button layout is just too impossible for me to swap to coming from an Xbox and the way they do it, however this wasn't without issues as when on screen it says press A, I need to press B. I really wish they could code the games so that it just refers to a position, and so if you swap jump roll erx, the code doesn't need to do anything to know that now it displays a different button to press.

I think in the end I had to put it all back to default and push through to try get used to it, but then I only played zelda botw and ttok and then sold my switch, so it was only temporary and no swapping between switch and xbox.

It's one of my biggest issues with Nintendo consoles. They need to understand that a huge chunk of players are used to a certain way and better support people customising to how they prefer.

But then Nintendo could be looking at it as sony & Microsoft have they're buttons setup the wrong way around :cry::cry:

But i myself is far more used to the sony & Microsoft setup with having spent far more of my years growing up playing playstation/Xbox & PC games compared to nintendo systems..

Reminds me of the huge pain of different car brands which have the steering wheel stalks swapped and the horn positioned in in different places

Nintendo have had their layout longer than both Sony and Microsoft though. So people need to understand Nintendo is the correct way :D

You're right, but Regardless of it being the correct way, Nintendo should address it given there is a huge chunk of people that are user to the xbox/ps way, and it creates for me at least a really uncomfortable experience trying to relearn the buttons.

It'd be like them having brake and accelerate reversed, even if it is how they did it first, if 50 percent of gamers or maybe even more are user to another way, at least just code it so that the button mapping is not just changeable, but the icon within a game changes with it too.

I don’t really care that much. When I get used to it it’s fine and actually more intuitive to me eventually. I did start out using the snes as my first console though so maybe that’s why.

I think there are dongles that let you use xbox and ps controllers on Switch. May add a little input latency tho, and it still might be weird for games that display the button layout in places.

During the Gamecube/Wii eras I got used to the Xbox labels for the face button layout and used it on PC too. With Wii U and 3DS the 'original' layout only took a week or so to feel normal again tho, I think SNES being my first console too made it easy to change back.
