The Big WWE Wrestling Thread

The retirement run was awful, but the ending wonderfully poetic

Farewell, John
Was a nice little ending - I don't get why people were booing him losing. It's the right thing to do.
Although WWE is pretty shocking at the moment, I don't see it getting better anytime too soon, there is just too much rubbish with all the hours they have to fill

He absolutely should have lost on his way out and put someone up and coming over, problem is that Gunther is already established and over so a bit of a waste. No issue with him losing though.

"Never Give Up"

Losing was fine, opponent was a bit pointless, baffled why anyone thought a submission and having him 'give up' was the sensible choice of how to lose though.

I've not seen the match yet Gunther is best of the best but im not sure if he need to be put over, I was thinking Dominik Mysterio but hes already getting a good push from a lot of people in john cena.

I was thinking the following would have been as good or better,
Pete Dunne. Austin Theory, Carmelo Hayes, Ilja Dragunov, Solo Sikoa, Angel Garza, Jacob Fatu, Grayson Waller, All Young, all of them are skilled, all have been in WWE for some time, all are well known (non of them are no bodies) the push would have been great for them.

2nd options: Drew McIntyre, Johnny Gargano, Damian Priest

Carmelo Hayes would have been my choice out of the competitors they picked for the tournament. He was the youngest, followed by Solo I think? His babyface push has definitely grown on me and has my support.
I am hoping moving forward next year they should be focusing on their current superstar as I feel like this year their main focus was John cena retirement.
Them moving back to 3 hours for Smackdown is a double edge sword, if they can manage to put on good matches and "story-telling" again then Smackdown should be good again.
The Smackdown tag team used to be one of the main highlights and its now non-existences and the mid-card is also non-existences.

Way too long for a weekly show, I just manage a PLE. plus with 3hours each week im not sure they will have have good story telling, I would be how can we fill 3 hours.
They was on 3 hours before they went down to 2 hours in the 1st half of the year, it allowed the tag team division and mid-card talents segment and to perform. Yeah it is pretty draining but I guess this is the consequence as the Internet Wrestling Community like to point out. They don't do house shows anymore.

Funny the things wwf USED to do that made things seem a bit more legit, little things like real American continuing to play as Hogan was being attacked like the attack wasn't meant to happen.

Can't even do a run in these days without intro music playing even though its not supposed to be happening.

Got tickets to go to the televised RAW in Belfast. Looking forward to seeing what a live event looks like, although admittedly my love of wrestling spanned the Attitude-era timeline. Have always kept an eye on it from afar since but what I would have given to go to the same event in the late 90's! Had wanted tickets before Christmas but they were scandalously expensive and I couldn't justify it - then yesterday, I read people online saying that they'd released a lot more tickets in the lower price tiers and pulled the trigger on them. Still the most expensive tickets I've ever bought for any show  Taking my son with me who will be completely new to it, maybe it'll spark up an interest.

Me and my mate, probably 20-22 years ago once saw the undertaker live, in London at a WWE event. We pointed at him and both screamed “YOU!!” As he entered the ring, did his thing and then stood there and pointed back to us. I’ll never forget that moment!

One way you can tell WWE isn't as big as it was even a a year ago.

European crowds aren't anywhere near as noisy as they have been previously.

Probably doesn't help with their ticket prices being ludicrous, ever since TKO took over they're pricing more and more people out. There's even been signs about ticket pricing at wwe events that have briefly appeared before being taken away when they send in the security Gestapo.

Might be worth giving AEW a look then.

I don't get much time to even gloss over the WWE stuff but I appreciate the suggestion otherwise :) Had a great time last night at RAW, crowd was really at it all night and seeing it in person definitely gives you a deeper appreciation of the physical risks involved. Thought the main event was quite good but enjoyed the 6 man tag match the most out of them all.

lol, i know that feeling. when they went to 3hr shows it was a nightmare for me to watch it all especially if there was a PPV as well :-D

still if you want a taste, have a quick skeg on YT for AEW Blood And Guts.
