28 Years Later Trilogy

I’ve just watched 28 Years Later having not really read much about it.

I am very conflicted about it.

On the one hand, in a world where most big movie trailers are barely distinguishable from any other…..it’s kinda cool to see something that is frankly just a bit off the wall.

On the other hand….it was just very weird.

But then I love Young Fathers (who scored it) and the music and audio was amazing.

Ralph Fiennes character was interesting, but I think it’s just his charisma, because we didn’t learn anything about him. Reminded me of Charles Dance’s character in alien3, but we learnt his backstory.

The gore and death visuals were weird, like Scott pilgrim cartoon mad at times.

It feels a bit like some people took a cocktail of drugs and brainstormed mad ideas….then got an amazing crew and cast and musicians together to do a proper high quality job of executing their deranged vision on film.

So many films these days I watch them forget almost instantly. This one will stay with me a while….

I think I actually quite liked it. And I want to see the next one.

Just watched 28 Years Later. Strange movie. Seemed to have forgotten how the zombies were supposed to work in this version going from a drop of blood in the eye is depth to rhythmic gymnastics new zombie slaying event at the end.

The doctor was great though, it was intriguingly different and distinctive, and there was a definite element hinting that the zombies retained at least some humanity.

you could argue the survivors likely have some level of resistance and that's why they are still around.

But imo the films are too detached from each other to really be a proper trilogy, they don't really feel like a continuation at all.

It was an odd film, I sort of enjoyed but definitely needed drugs to get through some of it. The early scenes with the flashing 'historical' footage and repetitive voice track grated on nerves I didn't know could be irritated. Will be interesting to see the next one anyway.

So far from what I have read the critics are saying its the movie of the year so far (Bone Temple)
I enjoyed the last one it was different but do not forget 28 years has passed the world has gone to pap so these infected running around like sprinters they must be knackered after 28 years of chasing norms so some evolution and behaviour changes would have happened.
I tried to get in as an extra as I joined the casting agency, I didnt bother for one casting call as they wanted triathalon and marathon runners. I applied for the train sequence but I didnt get that either. The jobs I did get to be an extra for other productions I couldnt attend because I was busy or at work on those days. One was the new Spiderman which was a shame and I think one was for Avengers Doomsday but it was very hush hush. https://www.castingcollective.co.uk/ is the website if anyone fancies trying it.

Here was my review of 28 Years Later earlier in this thread. Needless to say I don’t think I will bother seeing this one. I feel like Nia Da Costa should be given a chance, but Danny Boyle royally ****ed it for me. 28 Days Later was one of my favourite films of all time. What a way to ruin it its legacy. No rhyme or reason.

I saw it last night and thought it was absolute dog ****. The script was dreadful, everyone was doing a drama school northern accent, and I couldn’t stop counting how many times ATJ said “good lad” because presumably they hadn’t written anything else for him to say. People were laughing at some of the lines…

It looked pants (thanks iPhones…), sounded pants, and the score sounded like it was downloaded from a trial of AudioNetworks (sorry, Young Fathers).

I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed.

The Alpha thing was ridiculous. So they’re now sentient monsters that stop to open train doors and enjoy popping people’s heads off? The virus is called RAGE ffs. And don’t even start me on that ending. We doing Guy Ritchie now?

I'm about half way through 28 years later, it very much gives me Byker Grove vibes with the accents. The "young lad" is actually a Newcastle native AFIAK and you can tell he's sanitising things a lot.

If I wasn't a native of the area myself I think it'd be less irritating, but trying to deal with Byker Grove + zombie horror is a touch rough.
