Cue people still trying to spread it by hand.

Could be an interesting option for those re-pasting GPUs where a lot of CPU pastes actually don't do that great, albeit on larger surfaces like a GPU a paste designed for hand spreading is generally a better option.

I'm imagining some old bloke on the packing line with a jeweler's magnifying glass holding each tube up to the light and saying "Yup, that's a tube of MX-7 alright", before throwing it in the box.
 
Might give this a go, I'm getting high idle temps, although within safety margins I think I'm about 5-10 degrees hotter than I should be. Probably my dreadful application previously.
 
That's annoying, I just bought some MX-6.
I wonder why this can't be spread with a spatula when it appears less thick than MX-6 which could be?

I also like how they recommend using the cross application method. Just use half a tube with each application and wipe off the excess! 8g tube good for 4 applications!

Yes, the way it has always been done until "influencers" started posting any old tripe just to stay relevant on "the algorithm", and vendors capitalised by selling gimmicks.

Not even opened my MX-6 yet, but this sounds interesting.

There's only 4 degrees between mx4 and mx7 so while the later like it's a winner it's not much in real terms.

For me it's boils down to pricing and if you truly want lower temps then liquid metal is better but risky
 
I bet it's no better than anything else on the market, or a 0.5C difference at best :P
I've never noticed any brand be real world, any better than the other.

Better than the thermal paste that came with my Silver Arrow SB-E 13 years ago. And it's only a few pounds, just wondering if there is anything better, apart from liquid metal.

TBH, I just use whatever comes with the HSF these days, I've bought various supposid 'best' pastes, in the past, and none were any better than cheaper stuff.
Yeah, liquid metal would be the only thing that would actually make a noticable difference, but I'm not keen on having something permanent :(
