It usually has its own excess and doesn't affect NCB.

Double check it's covered in your coverage doc. You'd be surprised how many people think that they have windscreen cover because they have a fully comp policy, not realising it's now separate on most policies.
Technically should be declared at renewal though

£500 excess sounds like it's on your main policy. Windscreen excess should be a lot lower. Maybe £75-150 depending on the car. I'd check your policy docs.

Result. Try and push for OEM windscreen, but YMMV
Especially if you have a HUD as, I believe anyway, it won't work with standard glass, it needs something different AFAIK.
I'll be sure to discuss that when I speak to the fitting centre.
Odd question, but on the F80 M4, once you park and turn the engine off, the stereo and a lot of the electrics stay on until you get out and lock the doors.

Why are you in the car, presumably you want the electrics to still be working? You can press the ignition again to force it to turn off.

On my F36 it's around ten minutes when it will prompt you on the screen that it's powering down but you can turn it back on when it does so.
I very often pull up whilst on a call, park the car, but it doesn’t turn off so I don’t switch to talking on my mobile whilst I sit in the car to finish the call.

Does that price include scanning it afterwards? Or are you going to do that yourself to save some money?
I guess my point is it makes sense not to turn off
You can code it to turn off immediately once the driver's door is opened. I have done this on mine.
I was going to say, mine turns everything off once you pull the handle to open the door, it came like that

Our F60 Countryman is the same, and even going back as far as my R56 Mini is similar (it also turns off sooner if it thinks the battery is getting too low and shows a warning on the dash before it turns off)
