BMW and M Power Owners

Have anyone driven an i8? I'm thinking about an LCI model in the new year to replace my C63. Obviously very different but I think the i8 will offer me something different I haven't experienced before. Need to try it first.

@Dr House used to own one IIRC. you might find some posts somewhere on here

Pondering on a ZF8 transmission fluid change once the car hits 60-65k at an indie which is a specalist ZF8 transmission service centre

I understand that the procedure should be around £300-500 to complete as far as i can see
When I had mine serviced by the local BMW specialist, I asked the question about having the gearbox serviced at the same time. He said if you're not having any issues then there's no need.

He could've easily recommended a gearbox service and I would've paid for one. The fact he turned the work down speaks volumes to me.

I'm on the fence about ZF servicing. I have the BMW warranty so can't really have it done, but I have seen people saying that once you start unsealing the gearboxes, it can lead to other issues etc. I know ZF themselves recommend it, but the quality of work at these various gearbox places will vary.

ZF who make the gearbox recommend a service at 62k, if you are planning on keeping it for another 20-40k worth doing.

The shifts do start to get less smooth when it gets around this mileage it’s a very gradual decline so not hugely noticeable if you’ve had the car a while but following the change the shifts are much smother particularly when cold.

Agree with Danger D. The shifts are much smoother especially upshifts on a constant throttle.

Yep, had one for 5 years, I sold my GT4 and 911 and bought the i8.

I used it as a daily driver, love it. on paper it's nothing special but it feels a lot quicker than it is.

You do need to change the tyre size which transforms the handling, very reliable, good on fuel. Really cant fault it.

I had a Pre LCI.

Some random post for me, but I have been away from home for 3 months, tried to start the car and cranked straight into life. Mark me impressed

G82 or the nice one?

The nice one! (Budget didn’t stretch to the new one)

This post is useless without pics.

Unfortunately I have too many haters and the last year have been stalked a tad so am keeping any details on it quiet.

It’s got some Carbon bits on it so it looks even more genuinely sporty though.
