The Manchester United Club Thread

Doesn't excuse his antics.

It's not about excuses it's having a reasonable understanding instead of simply villainising people. I'd gotten frustrated by him as well and wanted him gone as it just wasn't a healthy place for everyone by the sounds.

It's that impact the environment has on people and can affect their development both as a player and psychologically as person. He was 23-24 years old when he rejoined. That's very young and very impressionable.

Footballers ain't just suddenly turning into these typos of egos. They're a by product of the state of football and will continue to be.

Just look at FIFA lauding convicted sexual abuser Trump this week after the whole Luis Rubiales case. True cognitive dissonance at its finest. Showing that for me, It's far less about football now than it has ever been. To what degree and how selfware the sports is, is hard to say, but the chance for everyone to be a star and everyone to make their dime has definitely tipping the scales further n further over and away from being about a professional sport IMO.

It's going to effect people to behave as bad eggs. Some are going to get munched up, like Pogba, Ravel, Rooney, etc to name some obvious ones. There is lots of good in their too though. We see some fabulous young speakers and players. Who haven't been boiled by the system and do well though :)

Interesting interview snippet there.
I get a little frustrated by these ex -pros and their "wouldn't happen in our day". The problem is, we aren't in 1997. We are a generation removed and regardless of how we may love the stories of Clough, Ferguson etc the world isn't like that anymore. Football is a multi billion dollar business that has outgrown it's governance and and frankly doesn't have space for the same values that were there 30 years ago. Pogba was ruined by his brother and his agent who basically exploited the lads talent and pimped him to the highest bidder. The likes of Rooney are different because they had a decent agent looking after them and not just financially.

Oh yeah, that stuff a load of BS. The stuff about him having triple or more of the media responsibilities of the rest of them though. Thats the bit that got me. They were essentially not that bothered by the football and far more concerned about his media presence.

Was it all on the club though? He seems like the type to prefer that over the football.

I imagine so. I doubt he loved all the media stuff. I'm sure he enjoyed some stuff but most of the younger generation don't love the forced promotion for someone else, they love doing their socials how they want to and on their terms. It will have fundamentally have been work.

I used to watch some of it, now it just seems rinse and repeat, milking old stories etc.

He's 40 in March! Might just be so Maguire has someone to race against in training.

Signing ex-madrid legends especially from that era is risky in the PL. I swear Casemiro is so rash because he was so used to Spanish refs allowing RM to get away with murder.

"You mean I can't jump in studs off the ground like a nutter? Games gone"

That offer should have been accepted for Bruno they has been times we look a better team without him i don't think we miss him as i said he has odd good game and odd good moments other than that hes average. Nah he is not captain material at all player make a mistake he moans and acts like a 6 year old.

Bruno turned it down and he’s under no obligation to leave if he doesn’t want to. We’re certainly not better without him until we get some quality fresh midfield players in.

When exactly? Because every time he doesn't play we look beyond abysmal. Know the only game he didn't start this season? Grimsby. We were 2-0 down and getting destroyed when he came on and helped us turn it round and draw level. He then scored 2 pens in the shootout.

I've never understood the Bruno hate, yes he can leak goals and throws a fit occasionally but he is phenomenal.

I don't think he is, we just don't have a replacement. I'm still waiting for you to let me know when we were better without him.

Looked good against Newcastle without the mardy sulking Bruno. Hope in January a big offer comes in and he's off
