Nice pongs and gorgeous whiffs. The Aftershave thread!

Still have half a bottle of 540 extrait from a few years ago.. still smells okay. I should really use it up.

Edit. Ooh and a bottle of Gentle Fluidity Silver just turned up. :D had this before but needed it again.

Best freshie I’ve probably ever used.

If you haven't already bought it, seriously consider Sweven by Oakcha, I actually prefer it to the real Baccarat rouge 540, and it lasts all day too! I've tried quite a few dupes, and obviously the real deal and Oakcha is definitely my favourite, I've got a bottle of it winging it's way to me as we speak, along with a bottle of Heavens speak (Kilian Angel share dupe). Before you splash out though, you should try out the sample pack (the red one) from Oakcha to test them all before you buy. Also, have a look at the YouTube video reviews :)

They've arrived! Really impressed with the packaging, puts some of the major brands to shame. Smells as I expected, amazing!

* Tom Ford Noir / Extreme
Woody smell on paper but on skin it goes through wood, to sweeter and then finally a very pleasant smell but still sweet.
Wife likes (due to the sweet smell).

* Tom Ford Bois Pacifique EdP
Starts of citrusy on the skin, moves through amber and finally has a dark woody amber.
Wife doesn’t like it. 10h later and she quite likes it but not as much as the noir extreme.

Pacifique is probably best described as more natural and earthy it’s extended smell and not sweet at all. The noir extreme has more wafting in the longer test and continues continues to be sweeter smelling.

* Tom Ford Costa Azzura EdP
Paper smell is meh.

Leather/etc are a bit meh.

* Gio Fougere 2024 (blue bottle)
* I'll also have a look at the Givenchy Gentlemen only

Givenchy - so so, seems quite the run if mill but not my type.

Didn’t try the gio.

Actually i like both the noir extreme and the pacifique on the skin. The noir is more intimate but the pacifique is also a great long term smell.

Decided on the TF Pacificique. Covered by the voucher means zero to pay!

The Noir Extreme EdP was pipped to the post. I felt the Noir’s lengthy legs were just really the sweetness (carried to the next day) but it lost it’s woodiness. The pacificique citrus to wood but then dropped off without loosing it to sweetness and had completely gone by the next day.

I found that there was a large difference in the TF between smelling on the bottle, on a paper tab and on the skin over time. I know people go nuts over the TV so it will be interesting to see your experience over time.

The TF arrived 50ml is a dinky bottle but given the rate I go through aftershave that's probably going to last.

Initial smell on the skin is *way* better than I remember when I tried it in the shop. Also the atomiser is better. Will be interesting to see how this develops.

So the current inventory, going in sort of order of preference (top three are really in parallel):
1. TF Pacificique - a warming, more intimate and more complex smell than the Najim, very not sweet but has woody/amber and replaces the caramel with incense,
2. Eros Najim - a warming but not sweet, projecting woody tones and amber with a under tone of caramel.
3. Mont Blanc Legend Spirit - daily wear, a clean citrus/woody/earthy that's a little more projecting than Legend with a back end of the legend smell, not sweet.
4. Mont Blanc Legend - clean business smell, intimate, soft cedar/leather woodiness with oak moss adding an earthiness without being sweet.
5. Mont Blanc Explorer - bergomot you got bergamot without being sweet
6. Vasace Dreamer - tobacco and possibly a little amber/vanilla but starting to smell sweet but not sickly sweet like the TF Noir Extreme base note.
7. Savage - sample bottle but I need to try it out at some point.
8. Gucci Guilty - lavender / rose, too floral for me. Projects a little but I can't get past the floral long mid note. I may pass this to the younger nephew in law if he likes it next time we see him.

Longer term 9h+ smell is that it mellows out nicely and you get whiffs (better than previous hand skin test). The Mrs commented that it smells nice but not the one she was expecting (noir) so a little confusion so I suggested that as a next purchase.

So my £3k tax rebate turned out to be an error on my part - I had cut and pasted the wrong field from my pension contributions into my return. Mad thing was that HMRC had sent me the rebate within 3 days of receiving my return from my accountant! Never expected that kind of efficiency from them. I wouldn't have noticed a problem if they hadn't also changed my tax code and sent me a notification the following day - that was a red flag for me and made me double check everything. When I reviewed my data with my tax accountant we saw the mistake and submitted a new return, for which I was still due a rebate but only £500. I had to set aside the other £2500 until yesterday when HMRC demanded it back. I sent it immediately and now only have £500 to spend - £250 of which will pay the accountants fees - so no Baccarat Rouge for me this time round.

Might give that Oakcha a go if you really think it's similar enough to BC450 to be worth it....?

In the meantime I'm meant to be going on a double date at the weekend, so am thinking of picking up a bottle of BdC or Sauvage. It's been a long time since I dated and I don't think CK Obsession is fashionable anymore... :)

Ultimately, it's up to you but I really like it, and the reviews on YT all say pretty much the same thing, but at the end of the day, it's still a clone. It's the best clone i've tried though, and i'm in no hurry to replace it for the real thing!

TF TV is one of those scents that smells great in the air and that I love to smell, but I can't wear it myself.

Decided to buy Bleu de Chanel edp today, I’m out socialising on Sunday and want to smell nice. BR540 will have to wait until March - annual bonus time. :)

Just got a four pack 7.5ml tester bundle from Alexandria fragrances. Looking forward to trying them. Think I’m going to cut back on full bottles from now on.

Currently trying Casanova - inspired by rojas midsummer dream. This stuff is awesome.

Not yet but it may be on my christmas list.
I remember when it came out, took my younger cousin to town and we popped into Harvey Nicholls and it was on their main display. We smelt it and thought wow, this is special. But it was around £325 for the smallest bottle. A year later it had dropped in price and I purchased it for my cousins birthday, 2 weeks later I got laid off from my job lol.

Do aftershaves ever go bad? I think my last 3 bottles ive had for 3 years. I dont wear them everyday but to me they still smell ok.
