*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

It's the same result in the end, but if you're someone who sells your games later on then it might be better to buy the physical Switch 2 edition (assuming you don't already have the Switch 1 game).

...and yeah as above, if you have the premium Online subscription (Online + Expansion Pass), the upgrade for the switch 1 game is available for 'free'. The upgrade pack is £7.99 otherwise.

I think in that case you'd go to Controllers > Change Grip/Order from the home screen
I was surprised it didn't just auto sort itself out after putting them into the grip..

I did pick up Sparks of Hope in the eshop sale with the additional DLC. I wasn’t sure at first if I was keen but I have been enjoying playing this last week. Definitely a bargain at the sale price!

Also playing Mario Wonder with the wife. It’s pretty fun although I think I’m gonna get a second pro controller!

Are there any other good co-op game recommendations?

I haven’t played it on switch 2, but Split Fiction is amazing.

My wife and I also love overcooked!

I only ever use mine for Vampire Survivors on the train. Desperately need a new 3D Mario game or just release old classics with better performance.

I don't regret buying it but it's not been good value for me at all (yet)...

Split Fiction looks cool but then I’ve just found it takes two as well!
I loved the idea of it takes two after seeing it on the PC so I grabbed it for the Switch. But the visuals on the switch version are a huge step down, and there's no switch 2 update for it.
We got split fiction and that looks much, much, better.

Both are fun if you enjoy coop games, and I went in to it takes two really looking forward to it, but I couldn't finish it in part because of how dull and muddy I found it to look at.
I also wasn't a fan of the story, which combined with the graphics is what killed it for me, but my coop partner really enjoyed it.

Split fiction I thought was fantastic.

I'm pretty keen to pick up a switch 2 for Mariokart world, but obviously want to look at wider options than that. Does Nintendo offer like the equivalent of Xbox game pass / PsPlus where you pay monthly and have access to a catalogue of games, I saw that you can get access to older games from N64/GBA etc, but what about newer games?

I haven't played mine much since getting the Steam Deck at Christmas although its more about "the new toy" than anything else; agree we need some more games!

The Online Service is really just Retro games, it does include Switch 2 upgrades for the two Zelda games but no "modern/new" games like Xbox Live/PS

I normally look at the value of a console as it should last me many years before the next version gets released..

Like my switch one i owned from 2017 till end of 2025
(fair enough updated OLED models did come out in that time and the same will most likely happen with the switch 2)

I use mine almost daily but would be nice to have some games for it that aren’t just patches of S1 games. Has there ever been a launch that didn’t include a new Mario or Zelda on it?

I've got Mario Tennis Fever and Pokemon Pokopia on pre-order. Both Switch 2 games.

I can imagine tennis being fun in bursts but not a game I’d play consistently. I used to love smash court tennis on the psx.
Played the strikers game on GameCube the other day and that holds up too.

I like games like that as I can just play for 30 minutes just to chill out and then go back to work. Rather than getting addicted and spending hours playing.

Ahhhh Divorce Creation Simulator - great games xD

Honestly play my Switch 2 most days at the moment too, I've got a vast library of Switch 1 titles I'd not got to yet (ignoring all the PS4 titles etc too...lol), partially because the performance limitations for Switch 1 started to get a bit frustrating. Switch 2 generally does a great job of smoothing them out, even if it can't fix the resolution they output at, and playing at a much more fluid, consistent framerate generally makes a massive difference. I might end up having to be a bit more selective on my selection, rather than A-Zing the entire lot, for time if nothing else, but I've got plenty to hold me over until the Switch 2 library proper gets going.

Have you played PlateUp? it's in a similar vein to overcooked but resorts in slightly fewer arguments, don't get me wrong it still gets stressful but there are less instances of "wheres my ******* burgers!!??" or "why are there no clean plates!!" being screamed at/by your better half :D
