BMW and M Power Owners

I use ISTA the dedicated BMW software for diagnostics, however define cheaper scanners might pick up which sensor it is.
I might have to go an borrow my brothers kit because of right now the dirty message won't disappear so I can't activate any sensors to see if they are working or not.

Does anyone know if approved used warranty would cover the sat nav messing up? It thinks the car is in northern Ireland, instead of Chester.

Stratstone want to charge diagnostic fee (£200).
Asking on behalf of my dad as I've no idea, not sure if he's being fobbed off.
Sos battery has flagged up that it's died as well, guessing that won't be covered though?
Sounds like an issue with the GPS antenna or the headunit just needs a full reboot. Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

Does the position move as the car is driven or it stays firmly in the same location?

Partner's mini has done exactly this - it went haywire one day and now think's it's in the North East rather than in Yorkshire. The GPS seems to be drifting west over time and it continues to move when driving (albeit often through fields). Mini wanted a similarly stupid diagnostic fee so she's just not using it for the time being. Would be good to find out if it's an easy fix without paying for the privilege.

A similar thing happened to my dad's X1. He paid the diagnostic charge to have it investigated at our local BMW dealer and they found that it was the shark fin that was leaking and had corroded the wires, and also caused some minor water damage to the headliner. They quoted £2.5k to fix, but I'm sure it can be done for a fraction of that if you can drop the headliner yourself. Thankfully he was still in warranty with the dealership he bought the car from, although they were 75 odd miles away, but they sorted it all out for him.

He said "it's currently wandering around Antarctica" :D

I don't get the thing about it's in warranty but you have to pay a charge... Seems a bit of a scam.

Yeah the dealership he bought from isn't close by but they did say he could take it to any (long as he pays it seems)

I've got a trim removal tool, I'll drop the headlining and take a look.

If there's a fault with an AUC car, they shouldn't charge at all... it's a full coverage warranty.

Because it isn't like that.

The warranty covers all diagnosis - in the event of a valid claim. If there is no valid warranty claim someone has to pay for the workshop time spent looking into it and that'll be what the diagnostic fee will cover.

No, they are not. They are either on or off and have no other adaptive functionality. It is an additional full beam headlight that extends reach to as much as 600m when the car can be reasonably certain there are no other light sources around.

When the lasers are not functioning, the car will use LED full beam headlights with adaptive/matrix style functionality. This is not the laser tech. It's actually quite rare you'll ever see them work. I've only really had them work when driving very late at night on otherwise empty dual carriageways.
The laser headlights are awesome tbh, it works pretty well. I did some driving at night in the M340i and I was surprised how quickly they react to incoming traffic and traffic that you're approaching.

That's strange, in the M340i you just hit the ok and it disappears. It does get frustrating as each time you hit reverse it comes back up...

You only need an enet cable (12 quid from Ali), Laptop and I can send you a guide on how to install ISTA.

Yep, if the claim is warranted, you don't pay anything. Not sure what the take is on batteries, the siren in the F30 had a non replaceable battery. Funnily enough they changed the design on the E8x E9x series, more money for BMW... New siren was around £289 and a new battery was a fiver. Ended up buying a siren from a low mileage 2019 car.

Yea that's how I've always understood it. You pay the 200 if they don't find a valid warranty claim, otherwise it gets rolled into the warranty claim.

I would be concerned about the timing of both faults, the battery is in the shark fin and if the antenna is as well it may be that the water damage issue mentioned above is a potential cause here as well.

I'd imagine that the battery is a non covered part whatever happens as it's specifically listed as an exclusion I think?

If you wouldn't mind that would be great, that'll be useful in future! I nipped around to my brothers and it turns out it's the right centre one on the front so I've ordered one and I'll get it fitted. Hopefully its not too faffy.

Don't post much on here these days but I finally bought a BMW .

I drive brand new lorries and the constant speed warnings, lane departure, full digital screens that feel laggy and general quality decline frustrates me.

My friend went from a '22 Cupra 300hp back to a 68 plate DAZA? Engined RS3 to get away from all the tech a s is loving life.

I wanted an F10 years ago but couldn't afford it at the time with jobs and partner being a student etc.

I tried to stick to a "sensible for an old car" budget and even thought about 520d but owning a 4 cylinder diesel at the minute I thought **** that.

This came up as approved used for 10 years old which surprised me, AY reg so they say a demonstrator for a year(they must say that to everyone) and a single owner from 2016 until now. FBMWSH at the same dealer on the button and perfect inside and out.

Carbon black 530d 80,000 miles
Black leather
Sport auto
Sunroof
Harmon kardon
Pro nav
Enhanced Bluetooth
Folding mirrors
Electric adjust steering wheel
Ambient lighting
Storage pack thing.

I drove a 75 plate Qashqai down to Stevenage average 41mpg sitting at 75mph and 67mph average. I get why people buy these cars but I find them hateful to be honest.

The 530d did 43mpg sitting at 75mph with much more traffic earlier in the day at an average speed of 48mph from Stevenage until around Southwaite as the M6 was closed. I did floor it away from the toll and every service back onto the motorway which won't have helped matters.

Can't be happier even after an 8 hour drive back home and I've got a years warranty included with approved used.

Cant see the photos unless I’m missing something?

Either way, great find - congrats. Excellent car. Miss the F10 530d, the only car I never had a single complaint about.

I had linked them wrong initially but they should be working.

I've paid top money for a car that I've wanted for ages. I didn't really like the F30 interior when I've had a shot of a 320d or remapped 330d but I did quite like the X5 40d on a 18 plate iirc which is essentially the same interior as the F10.

I thought about a G31 530e as they seem to deprecated like a stone but my commute is now a bit longer so a diesel gets a proper warm up rather than 6 minutes and off.

What are you driving now mate?
