Fallout TV series being developed by Amazon

It's pretty heavily relying on nostalgia so far. It's still good for fans but not as good as the first season. The story is all over the place and it feels too much like a 'member this from Fallout New Vegas?' Checklist of locations so far.

For me it is far too broken and following far too many stories at once. That and the once a week release is clearly not working. I much rather 1 episode focus on maybe 1 or two story lines than 4 or 5 at once. At the moment you have two separate vault stories, a brotherhood story line, the past storyline and the main one which is just too much and isn't needed.

Weirdly as a Fallout fan it is the scenes filmed in the past that are the most interesting at the moment as it is just separate of all the chopping and changing.

Being able to sit down and binge 4 episodes of Stranger things in a evening has changed the way we consume media and this once a week thing that Amazon wants doesn't work. I understand why they do it. It is to keep engagement and subs but it just takes away what we are used to with Netflix.

I wouldn't call it broken, I am still enjoying this series but it's not as strong as season 1.

But I do agree that they seem to be rushing through New Vegas plots and locations. Like we got a few minutes in NOVAC, 1/3rd of an episode with the Khans and New Vegas itself was some Deathclaws that were surprisingly easy to get away from, and seemingly on the doorstep of of a place everyone lives right next door?

I think this is 15 years after the game maybe? But it could have done more in the locations they've used.

It's a difficult balancing act with pacing get it wrong at either extreme and you end up like Game of Thrones (e.g. multiple dragged out episodes to travel anywhere in earlier seasons vs "teleporting" in the final seasons).

For the most part the pacing seems fairly decent, but like you say maybe a little rushed in places and certainly seems a bit wasteful to build some of these sets only for them to be used for a few minutes.

I prefer this season to last. The brotherhood were actually interesting this time around. I thought the last episode was meh though.

I’ve never played the games.

Gotta say that this season is being heavily carried by Walton.

It is, still good though and they have paid attention to the details and the lore. It even visually looks like the games. I don't think the main story is even the real focus of it, it's about journey through the world. Which is really how the games are.

Unlike the Witcher series which has gone off the rails.

I've been surprised by how many people have been mentioning this show recently, it seems non-gamers normies are actually enjoying it.

I have no major complaints so far, plenty of nostalgia and decent enough storyline.

Walton is very much carrying the show though, I have to agree with that. The Brotherhood of Steel dude is a little annoying, just comes across as an idiot, I'm assuming that's intentional

Prefer this season to the last one. I don’t think the show is particularly amazing though and gets overhyped somewhat because it’s a popular video game, similar to The Last of Us.

The problem is that at only 8 episodes per season, they need to pack a lot of story into a very short time. At under 16 hours, you would be barely be able to finish Fallout:New Vegas properly IMHO.

"Don't think of them as human beings, think of them as Americans.."

Lol topical...

I'll m totally lost on this tbh.

If I CBA I might binge season 1 and 2 back to back, that's how I'd recommend to watch this .

We just started watching it and have just caught up. I'm liking it, but struggling to follow the story, so figured my enjoyment was driven from playing the games and experiencing the Fallout world in tv form. However my girlfriend has never played the games, clearly isn't following it very well either, but is enjoying it even more than I am!

It was a pleasure seeing my two favorite actors, Matt Berry and Walton Goggins, in the same scene in season 1. I thought we'd see more of Matt but it just looks like it was just a short cameo.
