Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

starmers fault ... did he have any say on the foreign czech take-over of royal mail ..
they've been prioritizing parcel delivery too over thre delayed envelopes , because they take up the space and make more money.

What's Starmer got to do with it? RM has been falling apart trying to keep up in the race to the bottom for a long time.

I've had a couple of annoying ones recently, when ordered, the initial email says next day as usual, but then later changes to be a week or so and it turns out the item is coming from overseas.

In each case, I've contacted customer services, they've refunded the cost and told me to keep the item when it arrives.

didn't the government have overview on the foreign purchase (loss of control .. likre british steel , jaguar .... but of course those weren't current gov)
RM has been struggling since well before they were bought by the current owners was my point.

No.

They can block takeovers on the basis of competition or national security but they can’t just stop people buying a business because they are foreign.

Royal Mail is a legacy business who’s core business has been replaced by electronic communication.

Do you know anyone who routinely sends litter anymore?

This is the future of the postal service:

So yes they are focusing on parcels because that’s actually a viable business.

Tell us more.
If i do order from amazon, I normally wait untll i need to order few items, so never in a hurry. It will be collection to one of those lockers.

Collect from my local Co-op store (in-store) not the outdoor ones.

As i have not paid for prime for ages. Don't need it and won't need it. As far as im concerend i will just adjust my shopping if amazon decide to start ramping up fees/charges for collection etc.

of course that would be the motivation to have stopped it,
like cost to the economy of the monopoly Amazon has and exfiltration of profits (ie. R&D costs of their global economies of scale)

I'll give Amazon their due ... you can still easily speak to someone about order problems and they can autonomously resolve it fast

That’s not National security…

Amazon isn’t really a competitor to Royal Mail in the same way Argos isn’t.

New one today. Get notification package has been delivered. Curious, me and the partner are both WFH today, on either side of the house. Definitely no knock.

The 'delivered' notification has a photo of the back door saying "parcel left by the back door"......except there's no package in the photo, just the door....although you can kinda make out from the reflection in the window that the driver is holding onto the package still.

Package is not there. Guess driver has just pinched it. Does beg the question why they didn't photograph the package actually by the door, then pinched it?

Weird. Guess I wait the 24 hours then make the claim.
Plot twist, completely forgot I have a camera that will have caught this. Sure enough.

Dude walks round side of the house carrying the package, photographs my door, then walks back, still carrying the package. It's not a very discreet camera either. Guy looks half asleep tbf probably just a total brainfade rather than anything malicious. Dozy git.

Had something for the first time ever today, I ordered something from Amazon and it came same day. Granted they were only small items: an SDXC card and reader.
