The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Hi all. Just upgraded from a vega 56 to 9070xt and updated the drivers and chipset drivers but find the AMD software really laggy and slow especially when clicking on tabs, any ideas as it’s driving me nuts as it’s so slow.
For me it was caused by VRR not working correctly.

Test:
Disable VRR for the monitor in question. does the problem go away?

Fix:
you can add apps (browsers) as games with specific configs.
I have browsers, and media players configured with VRR disabled. IT's a nasty problem! I was getting 5fps in some browsers!

Just to add.
Apparently AMD maintain a list of programs that are excluded from using VRR. The explanation I got was that the browser I was using "needed to be added to the list" and in the meantime to manually configure it as above.
Since then I've had to add a few things.

I spent a couple of frustrating hours last night troubleshooting black screen blanking. First manifested as my Samsung TV flicking Game mode on and off, once I turned that mode off it would just drop to a black screen for a second or two.

It was unpredictable, I've just upgraded from AM4 to AM5 so a few things have changed but it had been working fine. Furmark would run fine for 30mins and nothing ever crashed. Reset all OCs across the board, then installed CachyOS on a spare drive - still happening.

Feared the worst, power or GPU related. Or TV.

At about the 3 hour mark I gave the HDMI cable a wiggle. Sorted.
I am getting this too, but on 2 different screens. I will try wiggling DP and HDMI :)

I’ll have a look but to be fair my whole
System runs smooth just this AMD Adrenaline software That runs like a bag of hammers everting you click on just takes something like 5 sec to register and each tab takes ages to load the new screen in Adrenaline. I do have a three monitor setup but my vega never had a problem with the Adrenaline software.

If it's a fresh install just grab the latest and go :)
Thanks. Are there any hotspot or cooling concerns this time round. Is the gigabyte model loud does anybody know?
One review for the non oc model says that it's a bit of a screamer when at full blast, just a custom fan profile job or unavoidable?

That's a weird one. Not something I've seen before and I don't recall people reporting it here. It may be a localised issue. Have you tried a full uninstall, ensured removed from device manager and no hidden entries, and reinstall? I wonder if moving from vega to the new architecture has left something behind. Is windows up-to-date and what not?

As above. I really would try a clean install again with ddu, something doesn't sound right

Well I notice the Adrenaline for the vega stoped a few version back and has vega in the file name.

RN-RAD-WIN-25-8-1-POLARIS-VEGA

Version I over installed with now is
RN-RAD-WIN-26-2-2

Wonder if it left somethings behind was the best way to uninstall the driver without anything left without reinstalling windows. So far can install the new driver from fresh.

Noticed this card had some buzzing as well but read things some sort of coil wine to.

There is a program called DDU it is able to clear out old drivers. I would recommend a full backup before using it just in case.

fingers crossed i should be rejoining the 9070xt owners club as mine is due to be returned to me this afternoon
fingers crossed il be able to finally post a screenshot showing my actual new machines specs lol. 9950x3d +6500xt
was a bit of an odd spec lol. might even finally get around to setting up the dual gpu setup later and have both
installed. just hope whatever the problem was has somehow been sorted, either way its most likely something
that i caused lol. fingers crossed

What was the reported issue with it?

What was the reported issue with it?
literally jsut no display output
i was happily playing my guitar [plugged into the pc via an audio interface] i decided the world had been tortured enough by having to listen to me play
so i put hte guitar down went to use the pc for something else and noticed that the mouse wasnt responding and neither was the keyboard........... and i had a static image on the screen
restarted no picture could only get a picture via the igpu and then i noticed it wasnt being detected in adrenaline or control panel
tried a different gpu [I'm using a 6500xt atm] and i get a picture
apparently it works fine in the test rig it was tested in when i sent it in so I'm guessing its either software or something else my end that caused it.
I'm hoping it was just me or drivers or something il find out in the next hour or two hopefully lol.
I'm guessing it either finally had enough of having to hear me play guitar [in which case i massively empathise with it i would rather avoid my playing personally if i can lol]
or it got utterly bored to death and decided it wanted to go on a brief holiday somewhere else for a while or something. my best guess is it was just fed up of me and wanted
a break for a few days or something. tbh id like to get away from myself for a few days also so i can totally understand how the 9070xt must have felt lol.

Thats a strange one. Hopefully all sorted.

half of me thinks it might be windows update or an adrenaline update that caused it dunno though hopfully il find out shortly
im hoping it turns out to be something mildly amusing that i can share with you all and hopefully get a giggle out of someone
when we realise its me being a total idiot and doing something obvious
either that or my guitar playing is getting that bad lately which id almost put money on lol
my playing is terrible lately lol

No not really, they use phase changing pre-printed paste that seems pretty consistent.

seems to be all working now
which is weird lol
but im not going to moan
also massive thank you to the ocuk team for sorting that rma out
i was fearing a potential nightmare but thankfully my fears were in
fact very much unfounded. so yeah shout out and thank you to the
guys at ocuk for being helpful and sorting out what appears to be a
classic case of pebcak. now installed back in my pc and working as expected :-)

Did a driver clean uninstall and reinstall it’s seems it’s a little less laggy but still find it slow.

Is it normal for the graphics card to have a buzzing pitch type sound as it seems to happen when games are been played.

Would undervolting help and has anyone got settings for the sapphire pure

Vrm coil whine can be a thing. Limit FPS to your monitor should reduce it.
