Definitely the best option imo, the AMD Keynote at CES is on the 9th of January so just over a week.

One of my buddies had a similar sort of set-up. He removed the back from one of the pedestals so the machine had room to breath and it seemed to work perfectly well. Obviously the temps weren't as good as they could have been in a properly ventilated area but they weren't horrendous or anything.

I'm seriously considering a 9900K, I can't convince myself to get it until I at least see what AMD comes out with for CES on the 9th of January though. Either way, I'm getting a beefy CPU for my new rig.

I very much doubt it will work without constant crashing, if at all. The SLI GTX570 will pull around 500W on load themselves, around 240ish each. With all the rest of the components added up it's definitely going to go over the 550W.

Do the Intel Retail CPUs (2500K in particular) come shrinkwrapped or is it just a box? :confused:

I don't intend on letting anyone in my room, but for a modest £750quid (ish), it shouldn't be too bad, I don't think. I most likely won't have it with me at all times, will probably leave it at home around half of the year. I could drop a lot of the cost by abandoning the SSD altogether...

I was thinking about getting the 16GB RAM from the states, which I will only be able to do for a short time I'm there. It costs near enough the same for 16GB there as it does for 8GB here, I thought I may as well buy it in the eventuality I may want to upgrade in the future, it will be cheaper...

Cooler Master CM-690 II Lite Dominator Case looks very nice, it's like the HAF912 but with more simplistic styling. I'm guessing I'll need a few cooling fans to maximise the cooling?
