Thanks - yeah I dont need wifi my office is hard wired. I like the BeQuiet cases so not a problem with case choice though its the one area that I do not mind paying extra for good quality as I will be looking at it everyday. I chose the GPU as I want performance at acceptable sounds levels and I...
Quick update - the Mobo went out of stock and I was not sold on the idea anyway. I guess I will just buy a 10Gbe card down the road sometime. This is what I am currently looking at:

Hi thanks for the response comments above. I used the configurator to get an idea of the mark up so I can stay in budget but yes i will probably go with a list of parts as suggested as the configurator is very limited.
Hi All,
Looking to switch back to PC from Mac. I am looking for a machine I dont have to build myself (yes I know its pretty easy I have done that in the past but these days I value my time more than saving a few quid).
I have a hard budget of £2500. I am looking to go fairly high end on...
I too am dissappointed OcUK will not offer an exchange or refund :(. I think I am going to switch my mouse to a Mamba even if Roccat/OcUK promises me a perfect replacement - though I am not sure I am going to buy through OcUK next time.
Acers are fine unless they break, then you know why they are £300 cheaper.
Never again.
If you NEED a laptop then buy from somewhere that offers better customer service. If you WANT a laptop then Acers are fine.

Finger is over that order button now. Basically I have 2 choices - spend a little more on premium parts for overclocking to the limit or go for modest parts and attempt a modest overclock (around 2.8GHz).

I considered the Tuniq Tower especially as its on this week only. It was even in my basket before the arctic cooler. In the end I decided on the arctic cooler because its a no hassle install (no backplate thermal compound already on contact) and the fact I will not be doing any serious...
Well done some reading around graphics cards and have pretty much decided on the 8800GTX from BFG. The 1950 would have been a stop gap card so if im spending more than that I would rather go the whole way and not have to upgrade again for a while. Heard the coolers on these cards are pretty...
Similar thing happened to me but a few days ago. Think I have isolated mine to the graphics card but I was wanting to upgrade to a dual core pc anyway and was debating whether to drop an opteron in my aging 939 agp board or upgrade the whole hog - this made the decision easy :D
Ok final question before I order:
The parts were obviously chosen for their price/performance ratio while trying to keep noise to an acceptable level but it actually comes in well under my maximum budget of around £1200 (not that I want to spend that much if I can get away with it). Is there...
Sorry Bleed should have been in inverted commas as mine seems more like panel uniformity to me. Bleed will be most apparent in dark environments ie lights off on a dark background. If you have true bleed it should be quite apparent as there will be light shining around the edges of the screen...
Took advantage of the "This week only" offer. Arrived yesterday after preliminary testing im very happy. Theres a small amount of bleed in the corners but it is not noticible in normal use and Im hoping it will disappear after a few days.
I generally do a full upgrade every 2 years with a graphics refresh in between, however right at the moment I sse it as a poor time to do a full system upgrade.
I will update my graphics soon to extend the life of my current system until early next year when I will do a complete upgrade.
Interesting I have noticed the same problem with both my mice- Logitech MX700 and 510 I dont use logitech drivers so i wonder if its a windows update that has caused it. I am running windows XP home SP2
I would second that, Acer Kept my laptop for 3 months last time I sent it in to them - that is after having to return it because they did not bother to repair it the first time.
Right now im having screen problems and the laptop is barely a year old.
Never again.
