    Ryzen 2700x workstation build

I haven't overclocked the CPU or done anything fancy, I just tried setting the suggested XMP profile for 3200 which came up in the BIOS. Perhaps I can get a faster speed with more fiddling, but I ran out of time for now. By the way, I found that 2400 vs 3200 didn't make much difference when...

    Ryzen 2700x workstation build

Sorry I can't remember now and I've misplaced my notes! I had two 16 gigabyte sticks of Corsair Vengeance initially (CMU32GX4M2C3000C15), but I found anything over stock speeds (IIRC 2400) made the system unstable. After searching I realised that RAM wasn't marked as compatible, but...

    Ryzen 2700x workstation build

I've given it loads of thought, seems like the 1920x ThreadRipper option isn't so cheap when you factor everything in: - I think I needed the EarthWatts Gold Pro 750W instead of 650w for the extra 4+4-Pin connector. - I needed to buy a cooler separately. - Quad channel RAM is preferable for...

    Ryzen 2700x workstation build

I've just edited the ThreadRipper build. I realised the cooler isn't included and that having 4 sticks of RAM, instead of 2 is preferable for that processor. I think I'm going to go for it, unless you guys can see any problems?

    Ryzen 2700x workstation build

I don't mind going for a better motherboard if you guys think the one I picked is bad, but the Aorus 7 seems to be something like £100 more and I don't need WiFi. I'd rather not waste money, what do you think? Sorry if I'm being thick, but I don't understand this part! What do you mean...

    Ryzen 2700x workstation build

No, not really. Which card would you recommend? (I prefer AMD, since Linux support is supposed to be better these days.)

    Ryzen 2700x workstation build

Unfortunately I can't wait past April for tax reasons. Would this new Ryzen 3000 chip be compatible with the motherboard I selected?

    Ryzen 2700x workstation build

I'm considering building a workstation, I'm a programmer and some things are quite slow on my laptop e.g. compiling Chromium. I'll be running Linux, mostly care about CPU, RAM and disk speed, but I figured I might as well put a mid-range graphics card in too. I'm looking to buy a decent...

    ~£500 music production system

Hi there, My friend Ashton produces music and he is looking to set up a new desktop machine for the task. He has a budget of around £500 for the tower itself. He doesn't need a good graphics card as he's not really going to do much gaming. He was looking to have 16gb+ of ram, possibly a SSD for...

    Projector lenses

Hi everyone, Trying to figure out if it's possible to fill a 70" by 70" projector screen at the distance of about 80" away? I want to use it as kind of a second monitor so the text needs to be clear but I'm hoping at such a large size it would support a fairly high resolution too. I don't...

Which widescreen has the same height as a 19" ?

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows what size wide screen monitor would have the same height as a 19" square monitor? I want to get a new monitor for dual screens and I want it to match. Thanks, Dave

    Laptop help (Toshiba s1800-400)

Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I couldn't see a laptop one. Anyway, I am trying to fix my old laptop which is a Toshiba Satalite s1800-400. I am having a problem where the screen keeps flickering off and to make it come back you have to close the screen and open it, but then it...

    Building a Fileserver

To be fair those specs are a bit ott. I use debian linux to do this, without the gui so intergrated graphics is pleanty. I have made a few similar fileservers and I find that an amd k2 works but is a little slow but duron or higher works fine.

using procmail to save attachment then delete mail?

I couldn't tell you exactly how to do it but its definately possible. I stripped out the adverts in my daily dilbert by tinkering (using the same programs as you). I would probably either search around for tutorials on the promailrc. You might need to use a program like sed or awk to find / edit...
