i uninstalled the missing Intel devices, honest!

i haven't had an AMD system since Athlon XP. it's lazy but the previous few rebuilds i just carried on the previous Windows installation. with this latest switch to Zen 4 (was previously 8700k) it was so unstable i thought the mobo was faulty. sound would drop out and stutter, most worryingly...

yes, the improvements are from the massively increased TREFI. you can easily compare what's changed with ZenTimings.

afaik all it does is set TREFI to 65535. with my it increases one of the secondaries compared to EXPO 2 so if anything it would be slightly slower than EXPO 2 with TREFI set higher.

It should be safe to boot into default bios settings as long as it's up to date enough to support the CPU. The SOC voltage is only increased if you turn EXPO on, so you can boot into the bios to flash a new version. Tbh you can prolly use the PC too provided you leave everything at stock (can...

silly q, u mean the MS store app?

no, it will. i think you're thinking of CPB (core performance boost), that is on by default.

you just get CoreCycler from https://github.com/sp00n/corecycler/releases, extract it into a directory. then u need to edit config.ini and set mode = AVX2 and FFTSize = Small. then you just run Run CoreCycler.bat, and wait. It will report any cores that error out.

yeah...i mean realistically, i can complain but i doubt they're going to do anything. and tbh it's quite an edge case that hardly anyone seems to test (including AMD themselves, seemingly), i don't want to force through an RMA only to end up with the same (or worse) problem. i have, and it...

for those who are interested, AMD don't think Prime95 alone qualifies for an RMA (which is what ocuk had told me AMD's response would be):

did u try CoreCycler AVX2/Small? that seems to be the only thing that shows errors on mine, as i said earlier even at stock. it seems to be only the particular way that it runs Prime95 too, as vanilla Prime95 pinned to the cores with errors doesn't show the same errors.

Yeah i was trying to read the magnitude manual... it has springs but it's not clear whether they are providing the mounting pressure or not, or whether they are more to provide some tension to stop the screws backing out.

they're 'supposed' to be the same layout and same 'stack height'. is it a known problem for coolers that use(d) the stock AM4/AM5 frame, or just those that use(d) custom frames on AM4? i have a raystorm edge that is supposed to be AM5 compatible.

:S doesn't sound great that it's possible to overtighten the block and this has an effect. what block is it?

I'll see what they say in response, but otherwise I'll contact AMD direct and see what they say. I find it hard to believe they'll say it's unsupported, but if it is they should lock it out. They can't have instruction sets that applications are free to use, that then function incorrectly when...

    Ryzen 7950X3D, 7900X3D, 7800X3D

Initial response from support is that using CoreCycler is an 'unrealistic scenario' and they have to be able to reproduce it under 'normal circumstances'. Frankly this ****** me off. Under 'normal circumstances' you might see only sporadic errors, so you use a stress test to isolate a cause and...

thanks. yeah i've sent OcUK a ticket, will see what they say. bit disappointing, i feel i've had to do a lot of faff to (fail to) get this setup to work at fairly boring settings (i.e. just use my DDR6000 at its rated EXPO speeds, with entirely stock CPU settings). last time i built a system...

anyone else have issues with CoreCycler and AVX2/Small? my 7950x3d is failing at all stock (well, bios defaults on an X670E Hero), on Cores 8 & 10 (the two fastest, according to hwinfo and ryzen master, though RM calls them Cores 9 and 11).

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Burns Up

I feel there's a lot of scare mongering going on in this thread, but...I'm pretty sure that was ASUS too , though they were hardly alone.
