*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Thanks for the info TV upgrade wise, potentially looking at ideally 85" or larger, but minimum will be 75". Probably looking at offerings from LG, Sony or Panasonic, and distance wise around 8-12ft, depending on where TV will be located I'll also see when they install if they can provide a UHD...

    Anyone with Gigaclear?

Hmm, I'm moving home and the provider I have selected is Gigaclear - this thread doesn't fill me with hope. Also experience to date has been a little hit and miss. Ordering was fine, we don't move until 8th Feb, they agreed they would come and do the prefibre work (lay cable from road to my...

Internet connection woes - advice would be great

I had the same issue with plusnet a couple of years ago. Same thing, random multiple disconnects, over 50 a day when really bad, this caused the DLM to kick in and reduce speeds down to try and stabilise. They even turned it off at one point but it still dropped. Over a period of 6-7 months I...

*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Just renewed my Sky contract, had to also arrange a move. Was out of contract for a while as move was touch and go and wasn't sure what to do etc as got nowhere with the customer service teams in terms of renewal before Had Multiple conversations and best they could do was £57 for Signature...

    Netflix here we go again.

Yes, not good, but they will be able to without major issues, there isnt much competition really, Amazon is pretty poor, Sky is expensive. Worst case they lose some users they wont be any worse off than before. Only option would be for people to subscribe monthly every now and again ie every 2/3...

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

Hi, No, no decision made as yet, got side tracked with other things , still need to figure out a solution. in two minds whether to buy a NAS or build server with UnRaid, leaning towards NAS (was also looking at the QNAP TS-464 or even 664) for the simplicity and lack of time to source parts and...

Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

Yes, I think once they get the monopoly fully they will clamp down on things like returns etc. I've noticed they have changed over the last few years

Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

I agree, I thinkg though people use it because of next day delivery, they get used to it and it becomes automatic to order from them. Similar to how everyone says I need a hoover rather than vacuum cleaner - its become synonymous with shopping, and that's what they rely on.

Amazon Prime sucks massive donkey balls

Will wait and see how intrusive the ads are and then decide on what to do. Mind you family orders a lot so prime delivery is used a lot

Brightness/ alignment of new cars/ LEDS head lamps

Nope, not just you, I've noticed it too. Also some people using full beams when travelling down country roads etc and not switching them off when approaching is another issue I'm finding. Mind you I've also experienced the opposite where people don't even have their lights on, it seems with all...

Setting up Home media server again, suggestions?

Hi, Thanks for the advice, yes I need to actually sit down and narrow down what I actually need vs what I want / would like. Getting all the new toys is one thing but then finding time to play with them is another, want to avoid going down the rabbit hole again.

Tips & tricks for cheap train tickets

I believe thats for off peak only though, so no good if using to travel to work (assuming peak travel) You can look at flexi tickets - useful for travelling 8 times over a 4 week period, so useful if you go in twice a week

Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

My N36L PSU died one me, any current go to options these days ? Is there a recommended small server go to option like the N54L onwards or whatever latest/last one was? I could either replace the PSU and move to UnRaid (as currently on Server 2012), or build/buy new server or go to a NAS option...
