HP Omen 15 best mid-range gaming laptop?

I recently bought the Legion 5P and for anybody interested, it actually features the 115W 2060, not the 80W variant. I haven't played any games yet but I ran the Unigine Heaven benchmark and it topped out at 119W! If you're willing to upgrade the RAM and SSD it's a great deal and as far as I...

    Help with HP return

Hi all, I'm wondering if anybody can help me with this as I can't speak to HP customer services until Monday. I recently had a return request accepted for a HP laptop to be collected this Monday (2 days from now) I've received confirmation from the courier, reminding me to write the address...

Can anybody tell me about the kinda performance I would be getting with this laptop?

I'd go for the Dell as well in your price range. I had a previous model Dell (7720 special edition) before upgrading to an MSI GT72 6QE and the price to performance ratio was excellent. Also never had a problem with it, but if you do under warranty they send a technician to your house next day.

    Skylake MSI GT72 - unacceptable lightbleed/flashlighting

I contacted Overclockers about this issue and they've responded by giving me a number for MSI and saying that all warranty claims on these are handled by them. I haven't had a chance to contact MSI yet, but based on Loki's post upthread it sounds like I could be looking at a repair on a new...

    Skylake MSI GT72 - unacceptable lightbleed/flashlighting

Hey guys, For comparison, I meant to post a couple of pictures I took when I removed the bezel. As you can see, virtually zero bleeding! Unfortunately once you reattach it, the bad light is back with a vengeance :)

    Skylake MSI GT72 - unacceptable lightbleed/flashlighting

Hey frosty. Before thinking about that I'd suggest using it for awhile and seeing whether the lightbleed is intrusive and noticeable during normal use. All these LCD type screens have bleeding to some degree, but if it only ever shows up when you're looking at a black screen that may not end up...

First time Gaming Laptop Buyer £1500 ish

You likely won't see any gains for anything over 4GB VRAM when gaming at 1080p at the moment, however if you're going to be connecting to a 4K monitor that may change things and 6-8GB may be something to consider. I'm no expert on that. But just to clarify, at 4K a 980M with 4GB VRAM will...

    Skylake MSI GT72 - unacceptable lightbleed/flashlighting

Hi Loki, Thanks a lot! I'll see what it's like over the next week or so. Like I said, the screen itself is perfect, it's just the bezel pressing on it causing problems. Apart from this one issue though, the laptop is otherwise fantastic and I'd have no hesitation recommending MSI.

    Skylake MSI GT72 - unacceptable lightbleed/flashlighting

Update: OK, so I got curious and brave and removed the bezel for a closer look (being extremely careful not to break anything!) And to my surprise, with the bezel off, the bleeding is basically 100% eliminated. I loaded up a dark scene from one of the Batman films, in a dark room, and it was...

    Zoostorm i7 Gaming Notebook

Those are different specs from what's listed on the page you linked to. The 950m is better than the 940m, and would certainly be ok for games like Command & Conquer and Empire Total War. The second set of specs also lists 16GB of RAM compared to 8 GB on the product page(?) So yeah, those second...

    Zoostorm i7 Gaming Notebook

In a word, no. lol. Not really. But I guess it depends on the sort of games you're looking to play. That page doesn't seem to specify what resolution screen the laptop is either, but the 940m can't really be considered a "gaming" GPU, especially for 1080p gaming. Can your budget stretch any...

    Skylake MSI GT72 - unacceptable lightbleed/flashlighting

Hey guys, So yesterday I received my new Skylake GT72, one of the exclusives from Overclockers: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-gt72s-6qe-265uk-dominator-pro-17.3-fhd-ips-g-sync-intel-i7-6700hq-nvidia-gtx-980m-4gb-gddr5-g-lt-224-ms.html My initial impressions are that almost everything...
