    Lightweight distro for old laptop?

Stay on Xubuntu, but wait until LTS 26 launches before you install.

    The AMD Driver Thread

Displayport will send sound for basic listening. Sounds like your card has a duff/cheap HDMI encoder? Could be driver nonsense too I guess. You only need HDMI for audio if it's going into an amp for Atmos or something like that.

I'd imagine a 'Fullscreen Windowed' game will want to inherit the desktop resolution.

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Find a way to send F6 (the function key) when you press CMD+D. Global key remap tools like this surely exist on Mac. I'm assuming F6 works on Mac as it does on Windows.

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

This isn't normal. You have an extension, third party software or video driver problem.

I'd assume the fake frame is done immediately. To have a smooth cadence with VRR, they'd need to predict how long the next real frame will take and insert the fake frame at estimate/2.

    NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

Steam Machine needed RDNA4. They messed up.

    The AMD Driver Thread

Sounds like some weird 'reduce fps of apps in the background' setting that's got messed up.

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Yeah. I went through the chew on bug reporting and dealing with their tool to bisect Firefox builds. The issue is in the code but a workaround was already implemented, except some muppet kept reverting the flag in submitted builds. Enter about:config in the address bar and the flag you want is...

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

See edit above. Perhaps installing a second language triggers it into action. I do recall an issue like this in the past. Do you have this installed too? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/british-english-dictionary-2/ Maybe try removing the current version and installing base...

And these settings in about:config (type into address bar) Disabling all addons has no effect either? In settings go to the language section. Make it look like this. It could be some bug where it fails if you only have one language installed.

And if you right click in the edit box you don’t see this? I don't think this is required but perhaps check it's also enabled at the OS level? Search for spelling in Windows settings.

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

Install a GB dictionary since you probably installed American Firefox. In Firefox settings enable 'Check spelling as you type'. Change the browser language to enGB while you're there. In the quick edit box on this very forum (i.e. somewhere you can type), right click and make sure 'Check...

Sounds like a bug with whatever app they're using to reduce blue light levels, Night Light, Redshift, Flux etc.

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

I mean MS may have disabled it or there is some weird issue with the input field.

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

You can block auto field entry in code. Perhaps that's what's happened here. It's not a Firefox bug, I don't think. I didn't need to enter my address as it had a new box at the bottom telling me I already had credentials to sign in.

Why you SHOULD be using Firefox

I can sign in just fine. It's probably related to enabling some universal windows sign in; as it now supports that, pin entry and passkeys.
