I don't use my desktop as much I used to but it's still had some serious mileage. Had planned to get a whole new system this year but hoping it will hold out another year while I get other tech gear first.
I'm using a Corsair 550w PSU (forget the exact model number) in a system that was built in November 2008. I'd say I've got my moneys worth out of it. Same for all the components.
The storage drives inside my case are what are possibly failing. I do have new external drives with everything backed up should they completely fail. And while the Windows drive is also old, it runs fine, just slow by today's standards.
I'm hoping it'll be OK until the last quarter of this...
Thanks. Although I'd want bigger than 32". I adjust quickly to larger screens and it wasn't long after moving from a 50" TV to 65" that I would have preferred larger.
As I would probably be doing some gaming, no matter how little, a gaming gpu would be better than a quadro? In the nvidia range...
I'm not asking about which specific cpu etc to buy. I wanted to get advice on what type of gpu and whether storage drives are better inside the case or not. I don't see any harm in that?
I thought a lot of people preferred ultra wide for photo/video editing because of how much you could fit on the screen? I know the resolution won't be quite as much as a 4K screen but at 3840 x 1600, I wouldn't class that as ultra low res. Looking at maybe Dell or Asus 38".
Whichever type I...
I came here 2 years ago for advice on a new pc but I ended up not getting one.
My storage drives are starting to fail and it's generally too slow (11 years old!) to put up with much longer. So I plan to finally buy a new one towards the end of the year. I know the tech and availability of...
Came across this today. If true, would this offer better performance than an 8700k?

For this monitor and other similar ultrawides, to keep everything running smoothly, what would be the minimum Nvidia card to use? Would a 1080 be more than enough?
It all depends on prices. With the amount I'm spending, I'm making sure I get the best possible deal. And yes, the builder is covering the whole build for 3 years (if I choose to go with them).
The warranty is with the supplier who will build it. And if Asus is so bad for warranty, why didn't anyone mention this when I've said all along I want an Asus motherboard?
As I've (still) not purchased anything yet, I've got a choice of 2 graphics cards. Can't really link them as I can't find them on non retail sites.
For £600, either an EVGA 1080 SC or an Asus 1080 Strix Advanced Gaming or for £650, an EVGA 1080 FTW2.
I know they're still overpriced but seeing...
I've been looking at the Acer XR382CQK. There are 2 models with very similar specs. According to a well known online retail website in the US, the more expensive one has HDR. A lot of people seem to have trouble finding out the differences between them.
