Switching from VM (HFC) to an OR FTTP provider

I can’t answer the customer service question, but if you take the phone service from TalkTalk and the Eero router, they send a Grandsteam phone adapter. I would assume if you didn’t want to use the Eero, it would work with any router. As for installing upstairs, yes it’s possible as long as...

Using BT smarthub 2 on Vodafone

Or come up with a new SSID/password combo and use it on every router you ever get from now on. I’ve had the same SSID/password for about 17 years now and I just set it on any new router I get and all devices connect automatically.

Using BT smarthub 2 on Vodafone

Whilst Vodafone may not object, BT do. Their router is locked down to only accept a BT or Plusnet username in the pppoe credentials.

FTTC cancelled, FFTC no longer avail, £6K FTTP install

You can’t just “go to” Ofcom. They don’t deal with individual customer complaints.

DuckDNS & BT Smart Hub 2 FTTP

Yes it should work, but you will need a DNS-o-matic account as well. Set the smart hub 2 to update DNS-o-matic, which is one of the supported services, and that in turn can update DuckDNS. I haven’t tested it as I have a script on my raspberry pi which updates DuckDNS directly, but in theory...

    Nokia ONT

No there’s no user accessible interface. What are you hoping to do with one?

    Terminating fibre cable

*in theory* that would work. But in reality they are fiddly as hell to fit, and you will need a degree of skill to fit them. Also you will need tools like a fibre cleaver, a stripper and some alcohol wipes to clean the fibre.

Any Deco M5 users out there??

I have these and occasionally have the same issue. It's not down to the M5's as it is the client device that decides which node to connect to. Make sure fast roaming is turned on and most devices that support 802.11r like iPhones, laptops, etc will be usually connect to the nearest device...

Was I right to walk out of restaurant ?

That’s just daft really and I don’t understand people that do this. Especially the people that have full trollies and just abandon them at the checkout because they can’t be bothered with a queue. Once you’ve spent the time filling the trolley, why instead of waiting 10 minutes to get through...

Broadband goes dead on micro filter socket.

In that case, no. It would appear that the extension that you wish to use isn’t actually connected to the master at all. Are there loose wires tucked in behind the faceplate that you removed?

Broadband goes dead on micro filter socket.

it’s because you’ve got the MK3 faceplate on the master socket. This is basically a filter and stops the DSL signal travelling to the extensions. Take off the front plate being careful not to dislodge any wires , remove the MK3 piece and then replace the front plate. You’ll need shorter screws...

    Mesh WiFi and Amazon Echo

My latency wasn't great anyway, due to interleaving and being in the north of Scotland, etc and since I'm not a gamer it's not something I've ever been too concerned about. I've got them working in access point mode, with the router doing all the erm... routing, so not sure if this makes much of...

    Mesh WiFi and Amazon Echo

This does seem to be a common problem with the Tenda Novas. The reviews on Amazon as well as internet forums are full of people saying the same thing - that their Amazon Echo drops when playing music. I did come close to buying a set of MW3s but this was a deal breaker for me. Instead I paid a...

    Hyundai Tucson

It’s the Premium trim I’ve got, and it’s got a sufficient amount of toys. The only things that would have been nice to have would be active cruise control and the powered tailgate, but you’ve got to go up to the Premium SE for those and I’m not sure it’s worth it. That’s the engine I’ve got...

    Hyundai Tucson

Is that a diesel one you've got? I've got a petrol auto with the 1.6 T-GDI engine and only get around 380 miles from a full tank. It's not a performance car, but I wouldn't call it slow on motorways. I suppose it depends on which engine you've got. I've never had an issue with the cruise...
