I may be looking at it wrong but is that just plastic that's melted on top of the metal parts of the power connector? If so I'd be looking to use a Stanley blade to try and get it back to the metal connections. Just take it slowly.

Because if I remember rightly there isn't as much prep involved with the plasti dip, Just giving it a good clean/degrease. And if it doesn't look how you want it you can just peel the stuff off without to much hassle. Thread HERE on it.

I had the same issue with the downloader when I downloaded the beta. Superhub kept resetting itself, its rubbish. Went out and bought a new wireless router and stuck the superhub in modem only mode and it worked perfectly.
