The amount of rain we've had on the west coast (probably all of Wales tbf) since last August has been unreal, so not surprised to hear. I haven't bothered going to my club for ages, it's a miserable experience currently; losing plugged balls in fairway/just off grinds you down and the round just...

    Dabbling in Buffer Overflows

You might be running foul of protections afforded by modern compilers. GCC, for instance, you'd need to compile the broken application with something like -fno-stack-protector.

Yeah, we're on mats already (West Wales). Doing wonders for my tee game; can hit a hybrid and not have to worry about fatting it.

Dude, you are going to easily get there. Great job breaking 90.

Nice write up, thanks. Always nice to see other courses. New island green being installed at my club, don't imagine my lost ball count will be going down after it's ready to play.

Depends on the lie; if it's a super tight lie, I wouldn't want to open the 52 up too much, but otherwise I don't have much issue with the launch in most situations. Very difficult to gauge when speaking in generalisations, as like I said, it's very situational; but, worth playing with landing...

The factors you're judging are landing spot and rollout. For most, getting the ball on the ground and rolling is better than trying to get it stop quickly; generally a higher percentage shot. So, given that, position relative to the pin/amount of green to work with becomes the major question...

I only carry 2 wedges: 52/58; but, my PW in my irons is 47 degrees, so gaps are good. Pitched in from 60 yards when I played on Friday, for what I thought was birdie. Then I remembered I was 3 off the tee and it was actually a 60 yard bogey, sad times.

Scratch that, I haven't solved anything.

Already on that see-saw. Driver used to be most consistent club in the bag, then I started this iron journey a while back and I might as well be holding a banjo on the tee for how foreign it feels. But the only important thing about golf is being able to rip a 7-iron in to a net, right? ...right?

Pretty sure I've solved golf. For the first time in months, I'm consistently hitting my irons.

Good job! 87 with all those shots left on the table is really nice.

Not hit a ball in 3 weeks, shoots 77. Me, right now. It's an impressive score card, so envious of the steadyness of it. Teaches a nice lesson on the relative (un)importance of FIR, too! Had my third lesson yesterday. Swing had fallen apart these past 4-6 weeks, or so, and went down a rabbit...

A lot better than the Bryson interview on CNN - "Nobody's perfect", in response to some of the more difficult Saudi related questions, incredible.

I played on my own a few weeks back, last tee time which was 6pm - played 11 holes, had to dash for other reasons, but there was still plenty of light; imagine I could have got round 18 fairly comfortably. That was, at most, about 1hr30 for 11 holes.

I relate to the 21 a lot here. Things are going well, start thinking, "...maybe I could go pro after all?" - boom, reality slaps you firmly in the face with a two quads in a row.

I hit off grass at home on my sim, what's my excuse? Had a bit of an epiphany when practicing over the weekend, though; with all the work going on elsewhere in my swing, my release had fallen by the wayside. Started using some thoughts I'd seen recently from one of the youtube coaches...

Played yesterday evening and seemed like I'd never played golf before. Started double, bogey, double; lost 4 balls in the first 5 holes. Not ideal... Haven't drilled the changes in from my lessons yet, and got spooked when out on the course and reverted to old thoughts; leaving me in no man's...

Anything. If it gets you playing, then it's a good starter. Nothing wrong with whatever cheap, second-hand clubs you can get your hands on. You'll likely want to swap them out when you figure out that you enjoy the sport and want to start improving, but you can get by on cheap gear for a good...

Ah, fair enough. Does make sense - if you've got two data points confirming each other, then fair to say something is there. I struggled when I first got my launch monitor because the yardages were a fair bit off what I thought they should be; but, no, turns out I'm just swinging it like a...
