Maybe its a stupid question but why do the memory clocks seem higher for each generation 68xx 69xx 78xx ? Is it not the same GDDR5 ? Why can GDDR5 be clocked higher on a 79xx card than on a 68xx?

I have had the same issue with my HIS 6870 - when hardware acceleration is enabled on flash I get instant crashes - have had it for some time. I assumed it was a flash - radeon driver bug/compatibility issue. My card is stable in all games and benchmarks, my system is stable in prime95 etc...

Happy with my arctic freezer 13 co ; quiet and keeps my 2600k @ 4.2 ghz below 35 idle and below 65 load.

When I installed it all my programs started a second or two slower so I uninstalled. Had a fail with SRT as well - Win 7 wouldn't boot with it installed.

Maybe you've already done this but try unplugging power cables of 1 component at a time from the psu until you find it boots. I had the same problem with a new build at the weekend and found it when I unplugged power to the DVD drive it booted; faulty cable.
