Time to revisit this old topic. I ordered one from OC a while ago but the TV wouldn't power it whereas my old 2Tb mechanical drive works fine. OC argued I should have checked the spec beforehand yet I DID and power draw wasn't mentioned at all in their advert !!
Are there any USB-A POWERED 3Tb...
I have your board and upgraded from a 12900ks to 14900kf without any issue at all. Was at the latest bios of a month ago whatever that was and now on latest... Fingers crossed it all works out.
It's not about money but making the most of what we have here for now (two pc's) that will hopefully do us for the next 2 years or so. That includes upgrading our 3080ti video cards. Saving money for a next gen motherboard mean a new processor too !!
ROG Maximus Z790 APEX Encore is looking good for my needs yet the two lone dimm slots have been pushed VERY close to the processor heatsink and may cause an issue !!. More chance of running a PCI5 video card and PCI5 M2 drive simultaneously too (as the ROG Maximus Z790 Hero is unclear in that...
Currently running 'sweet spot' DDR4 3600 well on a Z690 motherboard that claims to 'support' 3200. Memory that was recommended by OC sales at the time of purchase.... I'm now considering moving to a new Z790 so I can use my old board to upgrade another pc. These boards claim 'support' for DDR5...
To throw the cat among the pigeons..... Intel Spec states.
12900KS - 76.8 GB/s, 3200Mhz DDR4
13900KF/14900KF - 89.6 GB/s, 3200Mhz DDR4 ??
Hence I don't see why they haven't upped the 'supported' DDR4 speeds in line with DDR5. No wonder my 12900 and now 13900 are very happy with 3600Mhz DDR4...
Currently running stable at 3600 C16 DDR4. Yet wondering if Intel is hiding something here ?
As the processors move through generations we see increasing claims of faster DDR5 support yet DDR4 support mostly stays the same ??. Its hard to imagine this without corresponding DD4 speed increases...
Currently seeing 67c PCH at idle on my Asus ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WIFI D4 and considering the Maximus Z790 Hero with its much larger northbridge heatsink....
What PCH temps are you Maximus Z790 Hero users seeing (idle and gaming) ?
I've lost count of the number of times I've added items of interest to the site wishlist yet they dissappear sometime later ?. To make it worse like right now I see '2' next to the heart yet the wishlist shows 'currently no products on your wishlist' !?!?. Part of the issue may be that one item...
Yes doubtful the difference would be noticed in most real world cases.... Strangely noticed a moderate increase of my current m2 read/write speed by upgrading from a 12900ks to 13900kf though !
Just noticed several gen5 m2 drives on sale now so looked at my motherboard, good old gen4.
Looking at the latest Z790 Asus motherboards on sale at OC and the most expensive is gen4 too, needing a 'Rog Hyper m2' card to achieve gen5 speeds !? (yet it is plugged into a pcie4 slot ???). And to...
In my bios 'CPU power management' there are 'Maximum cpu core temperature' and 'package temperature threshold' settings yet both are either stuck on auto or greyed out whatever I set 'regulate frequency by above threshold' to or even the prior 'ASUS multicore Enhancement' ??
How do I change...
I want to limit MAX temp of my processor via the bios after seeing it hit 100c.
If I go into ASUS Multicore Enhancement I get the options....
..Auto
..Disabled - Enforce all Intel limits
..Enabled - Remove all limits - maximum performance
..Enabled - Remove all limits (90c)
Only the last...
