Both are good, but If your parents don't mind and know how to answer the odd pop up with Defense + (HIPS), then comodo is great and much better than MSE. However, if they know nothing about computers then MSE is probably the best choice.

I use Comodo Internet security 5 and i find it much better than the windows firewall. It's one of the best firewalls and also has HIPS, just having an antivirus isn't enough in my opinion, careful or not.

You shouldn't run more than one firewall, they could conflict with each other and possibly cause your computer to freeze. The same applies for anti virus programs.

To be honest, when it comes to drivers both companies aren't perfect.
I think steam is awesome, I've hardly had any problems with it and used it since it first came out. It makes everything so much easier.
