He's pretty quick, he could have done it faster than he did but was helping me get a decent time. I don't think he could resist when you came by! You made a good call with the gear. I definitely regretted starting with semi-winter clothing. Had to finish in leg warmers because I didn't want to...

You too, nice to meet you, very impressive riding, you must have got the fastest time. I didn't think anyone was going to go quicker than my brother and me until your Aeroad came by on the final descent! https://www.strava.com/activities/1569040746/

I feel your pain; I'm doing this event as well. Ridiculous that the weather has been great all week apart from tomorrow morning. Glad I'm just doing the medium route!

    Allergic to cycling ?

I have the same issue and the only thing that has solved it is a prescription nasal spray called Rinatec, it dries your nose and stops it running completely. I'd go and see your GP and ask for that, they probably won't have heard of it though! An ENT specialist recommended it to me.

The G One's are probably your best bet if you want 30mm. Personally I'd go for 28mm Maxxis Padrones, should be fast/light/comfy enough for you. As you say if they're good enough for Harry, they must be ok! Just a word of warning if you do go for them, they aren't the easiest tyres to seal on the...

The Schwalbe G One Speed 30mm definitely aren't sluggish. I've not ridden them myself but my brother used them last year and they seemed to roll very well and didn't hold him back at all. My brother was running G One tyres when I did this ride with him...

They're 31mm deep. Whether they have an aero benefit it's hard to tell, but certainly very fast and no issues with crosswinds. You should go with the Hunt 4Season, my brother has used them and been very impressed.

I've been riding on Hunt Aero Wide wheels since March this year. Very impressed with them, light and fast. They work well with tubeless tyres as well, I've got some Maxxis Padrone TR tyres on, zero punctures so far and roll well. Hunt wheels look pretty good as well:

Some good offers on Canyon at the moment. Even without offers they're much better value than Trek. This looks to be less than a Trek Emonda SL6: https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/road/ultimate/2016/ultimate-cf-sl-9-0-di2.html I know there have been delivery issues previously but I ordered a Canyon...

They're not always terrible with deliveries, I ordered a Canyon towards the end of February this year and received it exactly 7 days later. Does seem to be pot luck. Hopefully yours will arrive early!

    New road bike advice

Thanks, the wheels look great value to me. Still waiting for them but the bike has arrived and I've been for a couple of rides. It's incredibly light already, even before I've upgraded the wheels. By far the best bike I've ever ridden, light, fast and great ride quality. Would highly recommend...

    New road bike advice

Thanks again for the advice everyone. In the end I went sensible and under budget. Ordered this last Thursday: https://www.canyon.com/en-gb/road/ultimate/2016/ultimate-cf-sl-7-0.html It's a nice light bike and I'm happy with 105 after reading various reviews that state the current 105 is very...

Salary of tube and train drivers - why so high?

I used to look at train driver jobs and think they were rather well paid for what they do; so I became a train driver. Now I'm actually doing it I think the pay is fair for what is involved. The training is difficult; just under a year of very intense work learning the rules, regulations...

    New road bike advice

Good point, although do you think a medium cage rear derailleur would also be required as well for 11-32 on that Canyon Di2 bike you mentioned before? Potentially I could swap both the cassette and rear derailleur and sell the ones that came with it and still be within budget.

    New road bike advice

Thanks for the opinions everyone, definitely given me something to think about. Doesn't look like Planet X are rated highly by anyone here. I like the look of some of the Canyon bikes; it's a shame they don't let you customise the cassette or anything else. I may get a Canyon and then change...

    New road bike advice

I will be buying a new road bike in the next few weeks and could use some advice please. Budget is max £2400-£2500 but cheaper would be nice. I'd like as light as possible, preferably Ultegra (doesn't need to be Di2). Gearing wise I am quite keen to have a 52/36 chainring with an 11-32...

New SkyQ offer for NEW Customers

It says 18 months, but the guy on the phone said to ignore that and that it is definitely 12 months. I'm happy to proceed because he put a note on my account about this and the terms and conditions in the email state 12 months.

New SkyQ offer for NEW Customers

That is different to what I have been told. I signed up over the phone using the code from MissChief. The guy I spoke to said that he had looked into this for another customer and it is definitely a 12 month contract using the code, as stated in the terms and conditions in the e-mail. He...

New SkyQ offer for NEW Customers

Thanks for the code MissChief, I'll sign up shortly. Could you confirm please that it's just a 12 month contract using this code? The offer is for 12 months, but normally Sky Q contracts are 18 months.

New SkyQ offer for NEW Customers

Just sent a trust message now. I have Sky broadband, but not Sky TV. I hope that means I still count as a new customer for this offer, thanks in advance.
